[Construction Example] Construction without moving the rack: Warehouse subsidence correction (Fukushima Prefecture)

No need to remove heavy racks or machinery! Here is a case where modifications were completed in just 4 days.

We would like to introduce a case of settlement correction implemented at a warehouse in Fukushima Prefecture. Due to the effects of the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in 2011, gradual settlement progressed over the years. After a few years, floor sagging and tilting began to occur inside the warehouse, and inclinations also developed in the rack installation areas. This caused issues such as the forklift forks not fitting properly, leading to "longer loading and unloading times," which disrupted operations and caused difficulties. In this project, we adopted the Upcon method, which allows for construction without moving heavy racks in a short construction period. We were able to correct an area of approximately 1,250 m² in just four days (with a maximum settlement of about 78 mm). 【Customer Consultation and Issues】 A gap of up to 40mm has developed in the concrete pavement slabs within the highway tunnel, resulting in a height difference of up to 64mm due to fluttering. Patching materials were used to address the height differences, but to eliminate the discrepancies in the concrete pavement slabs, we adopted Upcon's concrete slab settlement correction method. This method allows for height correction within a short construction period without breaking the existing concrete pavement slabs. The gaps are filled with polyurethane resin, which expands on its own to fill the voids completely. The polyurethane resin injected beneath the concrete slabs flows into the crushed stone layer of the subbase, resolving any looseness in the surface layer and using the pressure from its foaming and expansion to lift the concrete pavement slabs and eliminate the height differences. 【Site Information】 Hiroshima Prefecture Total Construction Area: 653 square meters Construction Period: 10 nights

The Suppon MWX is a seismic joint designed specifically for pipes, manufactured by Mitsui Mining & Smelting Engineering Co., Ltd. (MESCO), that does not require disassembly. It accommodates nominal diameters from Φ40 to Φ200. The allowable water pressure can reach up to 2.0 MPa using a dedicated in-core. The "Tajiri District Drainage Channel No. 3 Construction" is a project to construct a road tunnel with an excavation length of 134 meters in the Tajiri Takaya area of Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, close to the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line. The tunnel will be built using an open-cut method with an excavation width of approximately 30 meters and a depth of about 15 meters.
