In air and water, water is more effective at extracting heat from objects, so the thermal time constant is smaller.

In the thermal time constant of temperature power sensors, those with good thermal conductivity become familiar more easily, while those with poor thermal conductivity take longer to become familiar. The thermal time constant is expressed as the time it takes to reach 60% of the temperature change range; as shown in the difference table, regardless of whether the temperature change range is large or small, if the object and measurement conditions are the same, the same value is indicated. The thermal time constants measured in air with a wind speed of 1 to 1.5 m are 102 seconds for MQT8, 160 seconds for M2, and 195 seconds for M3.
