Free membership registrationThe close-up tsunami load simulation research began with the aim of re-evaluating the tsunami load specifications that evacuation buildings should possess, by gaining a detailed understanding of the behavior of loads on buildings caused by tsunamis resulting from the frequent occurrence of subduction zone earthquakes. However, in light of the unprecedented damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the resulting massive tsunami, there has arisen a necessity for simulations that were not included in previous settings. Specifically, tsunami load evaluations for wave heights of 10 to 20 meters and assessments of tsunami loads on groups of buildings are now considered essential and urgent for the design of facilities constructed along the coast, not just for evacuation buildings. Free membership registrationThe analysis of the wind environment around the Namba Oi Mansion examined the impact on the wind environment in the neighboring area, focusing on a residential complex located in the urban area of Ota Ward, Tokyo, during the summer (southwest wind) and winter (north wind). Issues related to wind environments (building wind) frequently arise with the construction of relatively low-rise condominiums, around 10 stories, primarily in Tokyo. The situation is such that a building of about 30 meters in scale will be constructed in an area densely populated with single-story buildings (approximately 6 meters high). Therefore, if the planned building is positioned in a way that obstructs the wind paths of the block, there are concerns about the deterioration of the surrounding wind environment. Free membership registrationThe analysis of the wind environment around high-rise buildings aims to investigate the degree of impact on the surrounding area, which inevitably increases. In urban areas, it is not uncommon for buildings over 100 meters tall to be constructed; however, in such cases, the impact on the wind environment (building wind) differs significantly compared to situations where relatively low-rise apartments are built in residential areas. For buildings exceeding 100 meters, the areas of reverse flow that appear on the approach (windward) side, as well as the wakes (downstream vortices) that occur behind, become very large, resulting in a correspondingly significant impact on the surroundings. This analysis examined the changes in the wind environment when high-rise buildings are constructed in areas where the surroundings are relatively open. For more details, please download the catalog.

Free membership registrationThe analysis of the wind environment around the condominium was conducted for condominium buildings located in urban areas, focusing on the results for summer (southwest wind) and winter (north wind). When constructing or expanding buildings in urban areas, the wind conditions within the site or surrounding area can change significantly. This is known as the wind environment (building wind) issue. Generally, an investigation is conducted on the changes in wind speed distribution caused by the presence of the planned building for all wind directions (8 or 16 directions), comparing it to the conditions before construction. For a simplified evaluation, analysis is performed only for the prevailing winds of each season. For more details, please download the catalog.

Free membership registrationThe purpose of wind environment analysis in sloped terrain is to examine some of the difficult issues that exist within wind environment analysis. Analyzing areas that include sloped and undulating terrain is one of these issues. The reason for this is that the presence of elevation differences between buildings and their foundations makes it challenging to create analysis models. Another reason is the question of how to set the conditions for approaching wind on sloped terrain. Like in typical flat terrain analysis, a power-law distribution is generally used as a basis, but it is preferable to establish a distribution along the slope's inclination. Furthermore, there is a need to set the height of the sky plane higher than in standard analyses. For more details, please download the catalog.

Free membership registrationThe analysis of the thermal environment in a warm water pool focused on air conditioning during heating, where the cold draft from the circular roof glass surface becomes a problem. The temperature distribution in large spaces tends to be more disturbed compared to smaller spaces. This is generally because large spaces are more prone to uneven wall infiltration and heat loads, making it difficult for the conditioned air to circulate in the occupied zone. Recent air conditioning analyses have become capable of accurately simulating actual properties, including the three-dimensional shape of the structure, the behavior of supply and return air, and various heat loads. Free membership registrationThe air conditioning analysis within the casting factory was conducted to assess the air conditioning of the factory space with external ventilation during calm conditions. In facilities such as factories, functionality such as air conditioning performance and ventilation efficiency takes precedence over design. When considering the ventilation and air conditioning performance of the factory space, even if the ventilation and air conditioning airflow is set according to the heat generation of each section, the movement of air between sections does not guarantee that the living area is always maintained at the specified temperature. Therefore, careful consideration of the nozzle arrangement and airflow settings is necessary. For more details, please download the catalog.

Free membership registrationTo reduce air conditioning load, natural ventilation that actively circulates outside air into the building is effective. Recently, incorporating structures such as eco-voids and eco-shafts into the basic design stage for efficient natural ventilation has gained attention. At that time, the size of the openings for bringing in outside air and their installation positions must be appropriate. In this analysis, we conducted ventilation analysis to examine the relationship between opening conditions and ventilation states. We modeled the target building and accurately reproduced the internal and external spaces of the building. For more details, please download the catalog.

Free membership registrationIn recent years, there have been many cases where natural ventilation utilizing outside air is actively incorporated during the intermediate period and other times. Among these, a ventilation method that uses shafts installed within the building as exhaust and supply air systems has been considered from the basic design stage to efficiently carry out natural ventilation. The selection of appropriate locations and sizes for supply and exhaust openings is of great importance, and conducting thermal airflow simulations allows for insights into the overall operation of the building. In this analysis, we assumed windy conditions and conducted thermal airflow simulations based on the plans from the basic design stage. For more details, please download the catalog.

Free membership registrationIn server rooms and data centers, there are many servers and IT equipment, and heat management is essential for their stable operation. As a measure, we face the exhaust fans on the back of the server racks towards each other to create a pathway (hereinafter referred to as the hot aisle) that primarily directs exhaust from the racks upward, and we face the intake sides on the front of the server racks towards each other to create a pathway (hereinafter referred to as the cold aisle) that primarily introduces cool air from the floor into the server racks, alternating them to enable efficient exhaust. However, at the top of the server racks, there is a possibility of drawing in high-temperature exhaust from the equipment (short-circuiting), so we considered measures and conducted a comparison based on the presence or absence of a partition (hereinafter referred to as aisle capping) at the top of the cold aisle. Free membership registrationThe analysis of natural ventilation in large spaces examines the natural ventilation of buildings with large spaces during summer and calm conditions. In large spaces, there is often a trial-and-error approach to maintaining a comfortable temperature distribution by relying not only on air conditioning but also on natural ventilation. During summer and transitional periods, the temperature distribution within the space often stratifies, with higher temperatures at the top due to solar radiation and wall conduction. Therefore, if there are openings at the upper part, density-driven convection can occur, allowing hot air to be expelled outside the building. In recent thermal environment analyses, if the size, position, and opening ratio of the openings are known, it is also possible to directly calculate the ventilation airflow rate. For more details, please download the catalog.

Free membership registrationThe ventilation analysis of wholesale markets involved the natural ventilation analysis of building complexes in the presence of external winds. In recent years, advancements in numerical computation techniques for thermal environment analysis have made it possible to conduct analyses with over a million meshes even on personal computer bases, allowing for detailed construction of building structures. If the detailed structure of the building can be represented, it becomes possible to directly evaluate the state of wind circulation by simultaneously solving the thermal and flow fields of the internal and external spaces. Free membership registration[Purpose of Analysis] This is an analysis case aimed at understanding the thermal environment in areas where people move, such as concourses and corridors, during the construction of a train station building. Due to the influence of the arrangement of windows in the station building and the solar radiation transmitted through those windows, as well as the fluctuation in the number of people staying inside the station at different times, the thermal environment varies by time. Therefore, it is currently difficult to grasp the thermal environment during the basic design phase of the station building. In this analysis case, we modeled a hypothetical train station in a regional city during the summer at 4 PM using WindPerfectDX. We considered the solar radiation load transmitted and absorbed by the fixed windows on the west side of the concourse, the heat load from human bodies and lighting, and the infiltration load from the roof and walls, with the aim of understanding the thermal environment in the concourse and corridors of the station building.

Free membership registration◆Moving Boundary Problem: It is possible to move multiple objects independently and arbitrarily. The analysis of moving boundary problems, such as the movement of complex objects, opening and closing doors, and rotating machinery, which was essentially impossible with non-structural grids, can now be easily performed. It is also possible to feedback the fluid forces acting on the objects into their motion. ● Changes in degrees of freedom such as axial movement and rotation around each coordinate axis can be achieved through simple motion definitions. ● Analysis is possible not only for solid structures with volume but also for thin-walled (shell) structures without thickness. ● Various conditions can be assigned to moving objects, such as heat transfer and mass transfer boundaries, as well as free surface flows. ● The situation of time-varying flow fields can be animated along with the movement of the moving objects for detailed examination. ◆ e-flowDX Tsunami Load Analysis Version In response to the unprecedented damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the resulting tsunami, the need for simulations that were not included in previous settings has arisen.
