The mixing and blending of fluids in a mixing tank is one of the important processes in the chemical and bio fields. 【Analysis】 ○ The analysis grid models a cylindrical mixing tank with a capacity of approximately 680 liters. ○ An impeller composed of four blades (0.02 square meters per blade) is installed at the center of the mixing tank. ○ The mixing tank is filled with liquid (water), and the impeller at the center of the tank stirs the liquid by rotating 10 times per second (600 rpm). ○ The total number of grids is 137 (X) × 137 (Y) × 65 (Z) = 1,202,175. 【Analysis Results】 ○ Within 0.5 seconds of the impeller starting to rotate, the flow velocity expands from the vicinity of the impeller at the bottom of the mixing tank due to the rotation. ○ A downward flow is observed around the shaft immediately after the rotation begins. ○ As time passes, the fluid pushed out by the impeller flows upward along the walls of the tank. ○ The fluid above the tank is also seen to be mixed. ○ Using numerical simulations, the analysis varies the impeller's rotation speed and the shape and number of baffles (obstruction plates), impellers, and blades in the tank. ○ It is easy to visually capture active mixing areas and areas with insufficient mixing within the tank. ○ A comparison and examination of the overall capacity of the mixing tank can be conducted in a short time. ● For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.
