The stainless steel case is sealed with an O-ring and has a smooth bottom surface. It is minimally affected by mounting. The interference effects in the cross-axis direction are extremely small. It can measure four types of unidirectional differential pressure and four types of bidirectional differential pressure with a single unit. The Model 231 offers three selectable pressure ranges: 35 kPa to 350 kPa, 68 kPa to 680 kPa, and 170 kPa to 1700 kPa. Within these three pressure ranges, users can switch between four types of unidirectional differential pressure and four types of bidirectional differential pressure for pressure measurement. Additionally, the output signal can be configured in the field by selecting from 0-5 VDC, 1-5 VDC, 0-10 VDC, or 4-20 mA signals using a switch. When the pressure sensor is correctly installed and used, the range selection feature of the Model 231 allows for changes to different ranges without the need for expensive recalibration. An optional LCD display shows line pressure and differential pressure on-site.

The desiccant inside the cover adsorbs moisture from air condensation, providing an effective barrier against moisture intrusion into the sensor part of the pressure transducer. With continuous use, the desiccant changes color from blue (dry) to pink (humidity-saturated), which is indicated through a condition monitoring window. The lifespan of the desiccant is approximately six months, but it can be regenerated by removing the cover and baking it in an oven at about 90°C for 3 to 4 hours. To avoid interrupting system operation, a replacement desiccant cover is provided. The case of model 299 is made of durable fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate (UL94AB-0) and is designed for easy terminal connections. The NEMA 4X standard for indoor and outdoor installation (IP65) is constructed to include surge protection for the circuit board against voltage surges up to 2000 volts. An optional interface circuit board can convert output signals at a low cost. For pipe mounting installations, a pipe mounting kit is also available.

Setra's patented variable capacitance sensor is designed as a rugged capacitive sensor, achieving excellent environmental resistance to mechanical and temperature stability against shock, vibration, temperature, EMI/RFI, and more. The simple design of the sensor section forms capacitance between the diaphragm and insulated electrodes. The deformation of the diaphragm due to pressure is detected as a change in capacitance and converted into a linear signal by an ASIC-based electronic circuit, outputting it as an analog signal. Measurement accuracy varies with the pressure range, at ±0.13% FS or ±0.25% FS. Long-term stability is excellent at 0.5% FS/year. The pressure measurement range can be selected from 0 to 7 kPa to 70 MPa.

When ordering a stainless steel wetted part, specify model 540, and when ordering an Inconel wetted part, specify model 542. The model 540/542 offers options for electrical connections, including a 10-6 bayonet connector, weather-resistant cables, and molded underwater cables (up to 200 m).
