Compressible fluid analysis methods can be applied to analyze various phenomena!

The compressible fluid analysis method can be applied to various phenomena. In fact, in addition to conventional aerodynamic analysis, it has also been applied to combustion flows, plasma flows, and analyses such as supercavitation by devising equations of state. Furthermore, it is possible to extend this method to apply to incompressible fluid analysis through techniques like pseudo-compressibility. From this perspective, it is necessary to develop a general-purpose program that can compute the core compressible fluid analysis robustly, with high precision and efficiency, while easily incorporating various physical models. Therefore, we developed a compressible fluid analysis code that can perform both aerodynamic analysis and supercavitation analysis using a general equation of state.

New Lightweight DL Model for Medical Image Processing, Denoising, and Disease Classification

 Medical images are complicated and noisy. Device manufacturers are conducting R&D on denoising technologies using deep learning (DL). Unet is a popular model developed for medical image segmentation and has been used for image denoising. Unet as well as other DL models with higher prediction accuracies require large computational resources and have become a barrier to use in standalone devices for remote diagnosis or deployment of AI-solutions in mobile devices for smart digital medicine.   The "LWBNA-unet" of the present invention was designed with a focus on efficiency and reduction of computational resources. It succeeded in reducing weight by about 10 times as compared to the conventional Unet model. Similar to controlling the flow of information through a channel by changing its width, the LWBNA-Unet performs channel control by gradually decreasing the number of filters with attention to discriminate unnecessary features, which enables highly accurate segmentation of image features in complex and noisy images. The method is also capable of detecting and classifying diseases automatically with high accuracy under low computational resource environments. It is shown that the model has better capabilities of learning in terms of reproducibility and accuracy with smaller datasets as compared to conventional Unet and DeepLabv3+, models under same conditions.

No need to prepare mask images, and be capable of analyzing the tumor with surrounding tissues

 Radiomics, a technique for calculating quantitative features, is used to diagnose tumors in medical images. However, this technique requires preparation of a mask image from which the outline of the affected area is extracted, which places a heavy burden on physicians. In addition, since the target of the calculation is limited to the area surrounded by the mask image, the relationship between the tumor and the surrounding tissue cannot be evaluated.  This technology relates to a tumor image diagnosis method and program that calculates the image frequency included in the transition of the correlation coefficient by enclosing the area including the tissue surrounding the tumor in a square and performing Fourier analysis on the correlation coefficient of the area. Features: 1. No mask image required, just specify the user interested area by drawing a square 2. The relationship between tumor and surrounding tissue can be analyzed 3. Fast calculation (a few seconds per case)

Real-time EZ determination from intermittent EEG!

Traditionally, a specialist determines the epileptogenic area (EZ) to be removed during epilepsy surgery by comprehensively judging the results of EEG, CT and MRI, SPECT and PET. Conventional methods are challenged by (1) low accuracy, (2) the length of the examination period (which requires at least one week), and (3) the high burden on the patient (two surgeries, the installation of an electroencephalograph and the removal of EZ).  The present invention can estimate the seizure origin (SOZ) and EZ with high accuracy and speed without waiting for an epileptic seizure by analyzing the high-frequency electroencephalogram during the interictal period. Specifically, since EZ can be precisely determined in about 30 minutes after the installation of the electroencephalograph (electrode), it is theoretically possible to determine and remove EZ in a single operation, greatly reducing the patient's burden.  It is expected that real-time EEG analysis software based on the present invention will be developed and implemented in EEG equipped with the software.
