The river water around the Yonago River No. 1 Power Plant in Suzaka City, Nagano Prefecture, has a strong acidity with a pH of 3.23, making it unsuitable for agricultural use and as a habitat for fish. However, in order to effectively utilize resources and contribute to the community while ensuring environmental conservation through profit return, the establishment of a hydroelectric power plant was initiated. In this context, we were approached through the Ipros site, and we had the opportunity to visit the site. We held detailed discussions to propose products that our company could provide. As a result, our extensive delivery track record to power plants, along with our quality and inspection system, as well as our ability to create documentation, were highly evaluated, leading to our adoption. The 3DR elbow is a type of pipe fitting that is commonly used in gas pipelines. It is often manufactured using high-frequency bending, but due to the manufacturing process, an extra length of 1OD (1 outer diameter) is required as a gripping area. However, having this extra length makes it cumbersome during transportation. Additionally, in the case of underground installation, the extra length necessitates deeper excavation during construction, which increases labor costs, including handling. Since many products are used for mainline applications, the impact on costs is considered significant. However, if manufactured using the mandrel method, the absence of extra length improves loading efficiency onto trucks and eliminates the need for deeper excavation during underground installation of the pipeline, making construction easier. Furthermore, the wall thickness of the bend is almost uniform, and the entire elbow undergoes heat treatment, resulting in consistent mechanical properties and high quality, with no discontinuities in wall thickness, making it safe for use in high-pressure conduit mainlines. A rectifying plate is a plate that is installed on the inside of pipe fittings such as elbows, and it serves to streamline the flow of fluid passing through the piping. The photo shows a lateral pipe where the branch pipe is connected diagonally to the main pipe. The connection of the branch pipe requires saddle welding on a curved surface, and since the branch pipe is connected at an angle rather than at a right angle, the connection surface becomes elliptical, which demands a very high skill level from the welder. Additionally, a backing plate (pad) is welded to the main pipe using fillet welding. The backing plate is applied to reinforce the piping branch, and when performing prefabrication or on-site piping, there are concerns that directly welding support materials or foot materials to the product may affect the quality of the main pipe and the qualifications of the welders performing that welding. Therefore, the backing plate is used to address such concerns. The manufacturing of this backing plate also requires high forming skills to match the curved shape of the main pipe, but Benkan Kiko is capable of handling this. Compared to welding construction with direct attachment of pipes and flanges, using a stub end incurs higher component costs. However, during on-site installation, it does not require positioning or alignment of bolt holes, making the construction easier and ultimately leading to cost reduction when considered as a whole. Large-diameter welded pipe fittings are typically manufactured from carbon steel plates, alloy steel plates, and stainless steel plates, each from their respective materials. What we would like to introduce this time is a T (tee) welded pipe fitting made from a plate that has a thin steel plate of UNS8825 bonded to WPHY60 steel plate on the inside. In addition to general carbon steel and stainless steel, it is possible to manufacture from a variety of materials, including low alloy steel, high alloy steel, duplex stainless steel, super stainless steel, aluminum, nickel, and high-strength steel. The 45° YT product is a pipe fitting used for merging from two directions or branching to two directions. It typically branches at a 90° angle to the main pipe, but it is designed to branch at a 45° angle to ensure smooth fluid flow. When branching the piping at a 45° angle, it is usually necessary to connect a 45° elbow to a 90° branch tee, but by using the 45° YT, branching can be done in a more space-saving manner. This product is used in nuclear power plants and is managed under strict quality control. The available sizes are 50A, 80A, and 100A. Steel products are easily corroded when left uncoated in the atmosphere, and rust occurs electrochemically due to oxygen and moisture in the air. It is possible to protect the products from corrosion and aging conditions by applying paint. Steel products used in plants and pipelines are particularly often painted, and at Benkan Kiko, we can supply products that have been painted or coated with customer-specified paints, thereby reducing on-site painting work. For products that do not have special painting instructions, we apply temporary rust prevention that suppresses rust for about six months when stored indoors.

Su (Syu) pipe fittings are thin-walled stainless steel butt-welded pipe fittings (JIS B 2309) that have been reduced in thickness to a level suitable for general piping stainless steel pipes (JIS G 3448 TPD). This thinning allows for lighter piping and cost reduction, leading to a decrease in on-site construction burdens, which has received positive feedback. The material used is often [SUS304WD] since it is for general piping, but in special environments such as buried corrosion resistance, [SUS316WD] may be used. This product is a special reducer for gas operators. Traditionally, it was manufactured by welding various parts together, but this product is made solely through plastic processing based on our expertise in metalworking technology, resulting in a seamless shape without the use of welding. Its features include long straight pipe sections on both the large diameter and small diameter sides, with holes created on both sides of the large diameter side through bar-rolling processing. In the variety of welded pipe fittings, elbows, tees, and reducers are common, but fittings that have branches on both the top and bottom, resembling a cross shape, are referred to as "crosses" due to their cross-like appearance. These are pipe fittings not specified by JIS, and most are manufactured by machining from forged materials. However, Benkan Kiko is capable of producing them using the bulging method (hydraulic forming) from seamless pipes. The machining method tends to result in heavier weights and often produces angular shapes, which can make welding on-site difficult, according to some feedback. Additionally, the machining process from a solid block requires a significant amount of material, leading to higher material costs and increased processing costs. On the other hand, manufacturing through forming from seamless pipes achieves smooth shapes, uniform wall thickness, and lighter product weights, while also enabling cost reductions. This cost advantage becomes more pronounced with high-cost materials such as stainless steel and non-ferrous metals like nickel, resulting in significant benefits. When performing the peeling work of the zinc plating attached to the groove section, leaving any residue and then proceeding with welding can lead to the generation of harmful substances due to the heat effects during welding. Therefore, there is a concern about the generation of harmful substances, and the peeling work creates a burden and hassle on-site. The NBG joint is a welded pipe joint from which the zinc plating attached to the groove section has already been removed through cutting processing. This is made by "cutting out," which means it is created by machining from forged material, not through plastic processing. Among the welded pipe joints used in boiler-related applications at thermal power plants, there are products with large and special shapes that cannot be made through plastic processing (stretching, compressing, bending, or pulling steel materials). "Bevel" (kaisaki), also known as "groove," refers to the gap created between two base materials when they are joined together, which is necessary to ensure that the welded joint has the same quality and strength as the base materials. At the same time, a design and machining precision that minimizes the occurrence of welding defects is required. For example, increasing the bevel angle results in a larger amount of welding material, which can lead to increased welding labor and affect the mechanical properties and shape distortion near the weld due to the heat input on the base material. Conversely, if the bevel angle is narrowed, it can lead to decreased workability, poor penetration, and the possibility of defects such as slag inclusions that cannot be detected from the surface, increasing the likelihood of welding defects. Therefore, the shape and processing of the bevel are crucial, and they are designed to achieve optimal shapes and dimensions considering factors such as the properties and pressure of the fluid, material, thickness, diameter, and welding environment.

A non-standard angle elbow refers to elbows with intermediate angles other than the typical 90° or 45°. In piping design, by manufacturing special intermediate angle elbows such as 85.5° or 37° or 135°, it becomes possible to install and connect piping in spaces that cannot accommodate standard elbows. In particular, we manufacture and deliver prefabricated piping that combines fittings, flanges, nozzles, and nipples for fire protection piping, which traditionally does not require nuclear management. We also conduct strength calculations for these flanges, nozzles, and nipples based on JSME (Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers) standards. We can manufacture using both stainless steel and carbon steel (galvanized), and we are ready to meet various other requests.
