Our company will hold a business seminar. Many companies are facing the challenge of carbon neutrality for sustainable survival and growth, as well as the realization of a sustainable society. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, it is essential for organizations to create systematic frameworks and enhance employees' environmental awareness, working together as a whole company. Furthermore, companies need to view climate change issues as opportunities and aim for revenue expansion. In this seminar, we will first outline the environment surrounding companies, and then explain how to utilize our unique framework, the "Green Innovation Compass." Finally, we will provide detailed case studies of manufacturing companies that have implemented these methods to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance employee environmental awareness, and generate new business ideas. The need for treatment and care under public insurance (medical and nursing care) is also growing, but private healthcare services are supporting the surrounding needs. Healthcare-related businesses, such as health maintenance, management, daily living assistance, and nursing care prevention, have a broad base in the living market, and there is also demand for the pursuit of well-being in the era of 100-year lifespans, with the market expected to exceed 70 trillion yen by 2050. From the perspective of community-based integrated care, we will provide a detailed explanation of the concepts and methods for the healthcare services that will be required in the future, including case studies. Kashima Construction, the only major general contractor with a research facility specialized in marine studies, conducts cutting-edge research on the conservation of marine ecosystems such as coral reefs and seagrass beds. The ocean, which is said to absorb about 30% of the CO2 emitted on Earth, is also attracting attention for its "blue carbon" storage effects due to the functions of marine ecosystems. However, the recent progression of global warming has made it extremely difficult to fully utilize and harness the functions of marine ecosystems. In this context, research and development aimed at efficiently cultivating seaweeds and corals has been advancing. We will elaborate on the application cases and effects of blue carbon credits, as well as future challenges, by expanding coral and seagrass restoration technologies into community activities. 【Seminar Details】 ■ Date and Time: December 4 (Wednesday) 16:30 - 18:30 (Doors open at 16:00) ■ Venue: JPI Conference Square ■ Address: 5-2-32 Minami Azabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Kowa Hiroo Building ■ Speaker: Katsunori Yamaki, Senior Researcher, Earth Environment and Bio Group, Technical Research Institute, Kashima Construction Co., Ltd., Doctor of Fisheries Science *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

With the arrival of a super-aged society and the increasing public interest in healthcare and medical issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic, various healthcare-related applications and software products have been developed and released in recent years thanks to advancements in IT technology. Among these program products, those aimed at the diagnosis and treatment of diseases are subject to regulation under the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act (PMDA) as medical device programs, just like tangible medical devices and hardware. Whether or not a program falls under the PMDA regulations significantly affects the effort and costs for businesses in obtaining licenses and complying with regulations, while determining whether a program qualifies as a medical device program is not straightforward. This seminar will provide a detailed explanation of the points that relevant businesses should pay attention to, including the applicability of medical device programs, the Personal Information Protection Act, and other related considerations. With the arrival of the carbon-neutral era, fossil resources will no longer be usable. Biomass poses a risk of environmental destruction, and the amount of usable resources is limited. Ultimately, we will have no choice but to produce fuels and chemicals using CO2 from the atmosphere and hydrogen from renewable energy electrolysis. In Europe and the United States, methane and methanol are already being synthesized from CO2 and H2. The production of chemicals has also begun. We would like to introduce these technologies and provide a detailed explanation of the technologies needed for carbon neutrality. 【Seminar Details】 ■ Date and Time: November 20, 2024 (Wednesday) 13:30 - 15:30 (Doors open at 13:00) ■ Venue: JPI Conference Square ■ Address: 5-2-32 Minami Azabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Kowa Hiroo Building ■ Participation Method: In-person, live streaming, archived streaming ■ Speaker: Takaki Muroi ICLab (Industrial Catalysts Laboratory) Representative *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationOur company will hold a business seminar. The steel and chemical industries are considered hard-to-abate sectors, making carbon neutrality challenging. This is due to the use of fossil resources such as oil and coal as raw materials in industries like chemicals, as well as the significant energy required in the production process. On the other hand, the materials industry can be seen as one that generates substantial added value, as products are created through relatively long supply chains. Recently, the Society of Chemical Engineers published a position paper on pathways to carbon neutrality for hard-to-abate industries. This seminar will explain the contents of this position paper and outline pathways to achieving carbon neutrality, including reforms to social systems, utilizing the supply chain. Free membership registrationOur company will hold a seminar titled "Fundamentals and Practical Issues of Legal Affairs in the Data Center Business." Recently, there has been an increase in data center development projects in Japan, particularly focusing on hyperscale data centers. With the entry of foreign companies, the data center business, which is at the core of digital infrastructure, is expected to continue growing. However, due to the unique characteristics of data centers as an asset type that cannot be neatly categorized as traditional real estate or project-based assets, flexible and applied thinking is required in legal matters. There are numerous issues to consider, such as structuring, financing, permits, and the positioning of customer contracts and PPAs. Free membership registrationOur company will hold a seminar titled "Legal Risks and Countermeasures Hidden in Carbon Credit Transactions." As companies work towards achieving "carbon neutrality," carbon credits, which involve the buying and selling of quantified greenhouse gas emission reductions and absorptions, are an option worth considering. Additionally, the carbon credit trading market will open on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in October 2023, and the establishment of private markets is also progressing domestically. However, there are no unified standards for carbon credits, and their legal nature is ambiguous, which brings risks to their transactions. Therefore, this seminar will provide a detailed explanation of carbon credit transactions, covering fundamental knowledge, the legal risks associated with carbon credit transactions, and important points to consider in transaction contracts. Free membership registrationOur company will hold a seminar on "Initiatives in Bio-Manufacturing." In recent years, there has been growing attention on bio-manufacturing, with predictions that its market size will reach approximately 200 trillion yen by 2030. The driving force behind this is the biofoundry, which utilizes digital technology and robotics to rapidly develop smart cells. On the other hand, in the development of production processes such as cultivation and separation purification, particularly in the scale-up development stage, costs and time are significant, creating a bottleneck for social implementation. To address this challenge, JGC HD has proposed an integrated biofoundry that conducts everything from smart cell development to process development in collaboration with Bacchus Bioinnovation, a biofoundry startup. This presentation will elaborate on the significance of our efforts toward the integrated biofoundry and detail two bio-manufacturing projects that our company is undertaking. [Seminar Details] ■ Date and Time: March 4, 2025 (Tuesday) 13:30 - 15:30 (Doors open at 13:00) ■ Speaker: Takayuki Obuchi, JGC Holdings Corporation *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
