【Lecture Overview】 Currently, in the sewerage sector, various measures are being implemented to address aging infrastructure, prepare for disasters such as earthquakes and heavy rains, and contribute to a decarbonized and circular society. On the other hand, in the future, a so-called "8-gake society" will arrive, where the working-age population will decrease by 20% due to population decline. To achieve a sustainable sewerage business with limited budgets and human resources, discussions must begin now, with the utilization of DX (digital transformation) being a key point. In this lecture, in addition to introducing the sewerage policies of our city, we will detail some of the current considerations, including inspection and assessment methods for large-diameter pipes based on the accident in Yashio City, approaches to renewal projects, collaboration methods with companies, and the prioritization of projects under challenging management circumstances.
