◆Building a Safety Management System Using Image Processing AI Technology On December 22, ACES Corporation and J-Power (Electric Power Development Co., Ltd.) announced the implementation of a collaborative project to establish a "next-generation safety management system" at work sites. ACES is an AI startup developed from the University of Tokyo's Matsuo Laboratory, specializing in action recognition. On the other hand, J-Power aims to improve "safety" at work sites as a medium- to long-term theme and plans to build a safety management system using image processing AI technology. ◆System Development Aimed for Fiscal Year 2023 In the collaborative project, they began by formulating a safety AI system vision, examining operations and structures, and considering the user interface. Additionally, in the verification and development of AI algorithms, they prioritized tasks, starting with technical verification of "counting the number of workers at heights/openings," "detecting and identifying dangerous work such as ladders/step stools," and "detecting proximity to openings." Currently, they are further advancing development verification, aiming to implement the completed algorithms on-site to demonstrate their effectiveness. They also plan to develop the system within the fiscal year 2023.

(hereinafter referred to as SpiderPlus) announced the joint development of a quality management support tool for rebar joint construction. The developed functions have undergone trial operation at an actual condominium construction site and full-scale operation has commenced. ◆Exterior inspection completed just by holding up an iPhone The jointly developed tools are two types of quality management support functions for rebar joint construction: the "Guideline Function" and the "Calculation Function," which have been added as new features to SpiderPlus's architectural drawing and site management app "SPIDERPLUS," introduced by Haseko since 2018. In the exterior inspection required after the completion of rebar joint construction, measurements were previously taken using an SY gauge on the welded joint parts. However, by using the "Guideline Function," the inspection can be completed simply by holding up an iPhone, eliminating errors by the measurer and standardizing the process. Additionally, the "Calculation Function" allows for immediate display of calculation results such as anchorage length, provided that information such as rebar type and diameter is pre-entered, contributing to improved operational efficiency.

This receiver has enhanced on-site availability due to the inclusion of a 4G/LTE SIM slot and USB Power Delivery support to avoid power loss in the field. As a result, it is suitable not only for public surveying but also for static observations, RTK reference stations for construction surveying, and mobile station receivers for depth surveys. ◆RTK Observations and Infrastructure Displacement Measurement are Also Possible With the 4G/LTE SIM slot, this receiver allows for observations without being restricted by the range of radio equipment. By connecting the receiver to the internet, RTK observations are possible as long as each observation point is within the mobile phone communication network. Additionally, equipped with the positioning engine "Trimble ProPoint," it supports multiple satellites, further expanding the observation range. Furthermore, a monitoring bundle specifically for fixed-point observations is also available, enabling infrastructure displacement monitoring.

Using materials commonly available at general construction sites, such as cement and aggregates, they demonstrated the outdoor creation of foundation formwork made of mortar and concrete mixed on-site. In this demonstration, conventional methods were also employed simultaneously. While the conventional method took 16 days, including backfilling work, the use of the 3D printer eliminated the need for on-site formwork assembly and demolding, allowing for the completion of formwork construction in a target of just 8 days, half the time. JGC Global aims to continue introducing on-site 3D printers in collaboration with domestic and international companies. *You can download our catalog of formwork-related products from the link below.
