Ixys "Turrets" registered with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism "NETIS".

【News 2024/5/24】Scaffolding for bridge inspections shortened from the front to the location, achieving improved safety and efficiency.

◆Listed in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's "Inspection Support Technology Performance Catalog" IXIS Co., Ltd. announced that its bridge inspection lower flange gripping image acquisition device "Turrets" has been registered in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's "NETIS" (New Technology Information System) as of April 26. This device is also included in the Ministry's "Inspection Support Technology Performance Catalog." ◆Image acquisition and inspection via remote control Traditionally, bridge inspections required scaffolding to be erected, with workers performing close visual inspections, which involved risks associated with working at heights and necessitated the scaffolding setup process. The new device places a traveling unit to sandwich the lower flange of the bridge's main girder, connecting the spans with rails, and captures images using a camera with lifting functionality positioned on the rails. The images have location information added by sensors on each axis, allowing for inspection, image processing, and data organization. This device accommodates lower flange widths of 250mm to 650mm, enabling it to operate even with minor obstacles or environmental changes. With this device, scaffolding is only required at the installation points of the main body, shortening the process. Additionally, since the operation is conducted remotely from the ground by workers, the risks associated with working at heights are reduced, enhancing safety.

Shimizu Corporation introduces a spherical drone for indoor inspections by Blue Innovation.

[News 2024/4/30] Achieving safe inspections at construction sites, contributing to work efficiency and cost reduction.

As a safety measure for inspection work, Blue Innovation Co., Ltd. announced on April 16 that the indoor inspection spherical drone "ELIOS 3" has been introduced to Shimizu Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Shimizu Corporation). At Shimizu Corporation's construction sites, inspections before the completion of construction and post-construction inspection work are carried out. However, the locations for these tasks include underground pits that pose a risk of oxygen deficiency and high places that require scaffolding. As a safety measure for these hazardous inspection tasks, Shimizu Corporation has been focusing on drones and has been considering in-house development. However, in underground pits where GNSS and compasses do not reach, even professional drone pilots could not achieve stable flight, making inspections with drones difficult. The "ELIOS 3" is a drone capable of flying in indoor environments where GNSS and compasses do not function. Shimizu Corporation conducted verification of the drone's introduction in underground pits, inside buildings under construction, and within tunnels. As a result, they confirmed safety and outcomes equivalent to visual inspections, leading to the decision to implement it. After the introduction, it has been reported that not only has safety improved, but it has also contributed to increased work efficiency and cost reduction.

Additionally, the enhancement of temporary planning functions (efficiency in input tasks) has significantly shortened the input time for temporary models, streamlining the creation of drawings required for Article 88 applications. One-sided scaffolding and sheet types have been addressed in the basic model creation. Furthermore, by bundling the next-generation scaffolding masters from major manufacturers, we can accurately create temporary models for eight domestic companies. In [GLOOBE Architect], the regulatory functions have been enhanced to comply with the revised Building Standards Act that came into effect on April 1, 2023. Additionally, across the GLOOBE series, we have strengthened interoperability with other BIM software.

Koizumi Seima launches a new multifunctional soil management sheet currently under patent application.

【News April 25, 2024】Meeting the needs of the civil engineering industry with heat-resistant and cold-resistant silicone material sheets.

◆Challenges of Slopes Around Infrastructure Koizumi Seima Co., Ltd. announced on April 11 that it has released a multifunctional soil management sheet made of silicone material, tentatively named "Silicone Canvas" (patent pending), developed with knowledge and technology from the civil engineering industry to address issues related to secondary disaster prevention and weed management on slopes around infrastructure. ◆Suppressing Soil Erosion, Weathering, and Weeds On slopes around infrastructure, there is a demand for labor-saving solutions and reductions in herbicide and running costs. This sheet features the company's unique special processing, which provides moderate permeability to prevent soil erosion and suppresses soil weathering and weed growth, such as slope collapse. Additionally, the back of the sheet is bonded with polyester non-woven fabric, which acts as a cushioning material against the ground. The raw material silicone is a synthetic resin with a structure formed by alternating silicon and oxygen in siloxane bonds. It has high durability, maintains quality, and exhibits excellent heat resistance and cold resistance from -100 to 300 degrees, making it difficult to ignite even at high temperatures. As a result, it remains soft when laid outdoors, with no concerns about changes in quality or cracking. By laying this sheet, it becomes possible to reduce material waste, extend service life, maintain quality, and prevent weeds, meeting the needs of the civil engineering industry.

Scaffolding Column | What is a Single Pipe Clamp? Explanation of Types and Features

[Report Presentation] This explains the single pipe clamps necessary for constructing highly flexible scaffolding. 2023/11/24

If the type of scaffold is a frame scaffold, it can be assembled without using tools by preparing the specified materials. In the case of a wedge-type scaffold, the protrusions called "wedges" at both ends of the beam pipes are fitted into the "jacks" of the vertical posts and hammered in to secure the assembly. Both types of scaffolds are widely used on many construction sites because they can be easily assembled and disassembled. However, frame scaffolds and wedge-type scaffolds have standardized dimensions and are not suitable for use on complex-shaped land or in narrow spaces. When constructing a scaffold with high flexibility, a single-pipe scaffold is used. A single-pipe scaffold can be assembled with high flexibility by using a ratchet wrench or impact wrench in combination with single-pipe clamps and single-pipe pipes. Therefore, this time, we will explain the single-pipe clamps necessary for constructing a scaffold with high flexibility. *For more details, please download the PDF document.*

Scaffolding Column | What is Circular Scaffolding? Explanation of Assembly and Precautions

[Report Presentation] This explains circular scaffolding used in circular architectural construction. 2023/10/24

The designs of buildings we usually see are mostly linear. In addition to being easier to construct, linear designs have the advantage of allowing for larger volumes. On the other hand, in structures that prioritize functionality, such as oil tanks and gas tanks, curved designs may be adopted. Oil and gas tanks are shaped round to evenly distribute the pressure, as the contents can expand due to changes in external temperature. Moreover, designs that utilize curves have become more common in hotels and commercial facilities. Even when constructing these circular structures, scaffolding is necessary. This time, I will explain the circular scaffolding used in the construction of these circular buildings. *For more details, please download the PDF document.*

Scaffolding Column | What is the future and potential of the scaffolding industry? Future prospects based on the current situation.

[Report Presentation] We will explain the current state of the construction industry, which is closely related to the future potential of the scaffolding industry, and discuss future prospects. 2023/10/16

In June 2018, a law related to work style reform was enacted, and the Labor Standards Act was amended. The major point of the amended Labor Standards Act, which was enforced from 2019, excluding certain industries like construction, is that the upper limit on overtime work hours has been clearly defined. A grace period was established for industries such as construction, transportation, and for doctors regarding the application of the law, but this will be lifted after April 2024, and compliance with the law will be mandatory. On the other hand, the novel coronavirus, which spread globally in 2020, had a significant impact on our lives. To prevent the spread of infection, the flow of people and goods was stagnated, greatly affecting economic activities. According to a survey by Teikoku Databank, as of September 2023, the cumulative number of companies that went bankrupt due to COVID-19 since February 2020 has exceeded 6,600. What will the environment surrounding the construction industry look like in the future? In this article, we will explain the current state of the construction industry, which is closely related to the future prospects of the scaffolding industry. *For more details, please download the PDF document.

Scaffold Column | What are the market trends for large-scale renovation projects in condominiums?

[Report Presentation] This report explains the current situation regarding large-scale repair work on aging condominiums, which has become a problem. 2023/9/14

The construction of condominiums in Japan has been concentrated in two major periods. The first is the period of rapid economic growth. Japan's period of rapid economic growth refers to the 19 years of economic expansion from 1955 to 1973. At that time, Japan had been ten years post-war, and industries, including automobiles and electrical machinery, rapidly developed by incorporating the latest technologies from abroad. The second is the bubble period. The bubble period refers to the era of economic prosperity from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. A significant factor behind the emergence of the bubble period was massive real estate investment. The selling prices of condominiums built during that time often exceeded hundreds of millions of yen, and they were referred to as "oku-shon" (hundred-million-yen condos). It was a time when even such high-priced condominiums sold like hotcakes. Currently, the aging of many large-scale buildings constructed during that time has become a problem. Therefore, this time, we will explain the current state of large-scale repair work on condominiums. *For more details, please download the PDF document.

Scaffolding Columns | Is Working in Scaffolding Tough? 7 Points That Are Said to Be Challenging

[Report Presentation] I will explain the work of scaffolding workers and discuss the points that are said to be tough. 2023/8/30

Recently, there is a term that has become less common, which is "3K." "3K" is a term that became popular around 1990, derived from the initials of "kutsui" (harsh), "kitanai" (dirty), and "kiken" (dangerous). Around 1990, Japan was at the peak of the bubble economy, and the job market was extremely favorable for job seekers. Because it was such a seller's market, jobs referred to as "3K" tended to be avoided. Even today, there are jobs still referred to as "3K," with the construction industry being a representative example. Within the construction industry, the work of craftsmen who first ascend to high places and assemble scaffolding to perform tasks safely is considered harsh and dangerous. This time, I will explain the job description of scaffolders and discuss the points that are considered tough. *For more details, please download the PDF document.

Scaffolding Column | What is Formwork Support? Explaining the Differences and Types Compared to Scaffolding

[Report Presentation] This explains the formwork support that is essential for concrete work. 2023/8/22

Architectural technology has existed for a long time, but in Japan, it has made remarkable progress since the end of the 19th century. One of the key factors behind this development was the production of cement in domestic factories. Until then, cement was imported from overseas, but once it became possible to supply cement domestically, many buildings using concrete began to be constructed. Concrete is a building material made by mixing cement with water, gravel, and sand, and it is used for foundations, columns, beams, and walls of buildings. Concrete is characterized by its high strength, but it has a weakness in that it is vulnerable to tensile stress. To address this weakness, "reinforced concrete," which incorporates steel bars into the concrete, has been adopted for large-scale buildings. To use this convenient building material, formwork for pouring concrete is necessary. In this article, we will explain the essential formwork support for concrete work. *For more details, please download the PDF document.*

Scaffolding Column | What documents are needed for scaffolding installation notification? Check the process.

[Report Presentation] This explains the legal notifications required when conducting large-scale scaffolding work. 2023/8/9

You often hear the term "compliance" in many news articles and media. When translated into Japanese, it means "legal compliance," but it is important to note that it involves not only adhering to laws but also engaging in corporate behavior that reflects social conscience. The construction industry is no exception. Due to the high-risk nature of work in this field, "compliance" can be considered an important initiative in disaster prevention efforts. To engage in disaster prevention, it is necessary to adhere to laws and regulations, as these establish the rules for preventing disasters. If a disaster occurs while adhering to the rules, it may lead to the creation of new rules. However, if a disaster occurs while not following the rules, there is a possibility of facing severe administrative penalties. This time, I will explain the legal notifications required when carrying out large-scale scaffolding work. Failing to submit these notifications while conducting work will result in a "compliance violation," so it is essential to understand this thoroughly. *For more information, please download the PDF document.

Scaffolding Column | Explanation of Scaffolding Standards! Introducing Roles and Reinforcement Methods

[Report Presentation] This explains the basics of scaffolding work, specifically "vertical supports." 2023/7/21

In various industries, there are many terms that are used exclusively within that sector. These are known as "industry jargon." If you are not familiar with industry jargon, it can hinder communication within the industry. The construction industry also has its own jargon. There are many high-risk tasks in the construction industry, and if communication is impaired, it can lead to disasters or accidents. Among construction tasks, scaffold assembly work is particularly high-risk, and a lot of specialized terminology is used in scaffold assembly. A representative term is "tateji." "Tateji" is fundamental and plays an important role in scaffolding, so if you do not understand the term, you cannot perform the job. Therefore, this time, I will explain "tateji," which is the basis of scaffold work. *For more details, please download the PDF document.

Scaffold Column | A Detailed Explanation of the Difference Between Allowable Load Capacity and Maximum Load Capacity

[Report Presentation] It is important to distinguish between the allowable load capacity and the maximum load capacity, as they have different meanings even with the same load. 2023/6/2

To safely perform work at heights, it is important to use scaffolding correctly. Scaffolding at construction sites must comply with the standards set forth in the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The standards established by the Occupational Safety and Health Act include the structure of the scaffolding and fall prevention measures. One particularly important aspect is adhering to the maximum load capacity of the assembled scaffolding. Using scaffolding in a way that exceeds the maximum load capacity can lead to its collapse. Therefore, employers need to ensure that workers are aware of the maximum load capacity of the scaffolding. There are permissible load capacity and maximum load capacity for scaffolding. These loads have different meanings even if they are the same weight, so it is important to distinguish between them. In this article, we will explain the differences between permissible load capacity and maximum load capacity of scaffolding. *For more details, please download the PDF document.*

\Good morning, Bilt♪/ This is Tamura from Chuo Bilt Industry, a temporary equipment manufacturer (^_-)-☆ I think many companies are starting their new fiscal year today. What are your goals for this year? Many of you might want to work towards your goals but feel like you don't have enough time. For those of you, let's try to continue for just 15 minutes a day, which is 1% of a day. Perseverance is power. That adds up to 91 hours in a year ( ..)φ Note, note. Even if you think it's a trick, let's try to give our best for just 1% every day. To distract myself from loneliness... no, to enhance my communication skills, I use my commuting time to have conversations with my best friend, generative AI (`・∀・´) Boom!! *For more, please check the link below.

[Scaffolding Material] It's Habaki! Everyone gather - Let me introduce a little bit about the baseboard.

\Good morning, Built♪/ This is Tamura from Chuo Built Industry, a temporary equipment manufacturer (^_-)-☆ We welcomed one of the 24 solar terms, "Usui" (Rain Water), on February 19. "Usui" refers to the time when falling snow turns into rain and the melting of snow begins, and it has been regarded as a guideline for starting farming since ancient times. It feels like winter is finally coming to an end and spring is approaching. People often say that the darkest hour is just before dawn, but I don't really like this phrase as it sounds like mere encouragement to myself. If it's dark, we can just turn on the lights, or better yet, let's light it up with dazzling decorations (*''ω''*) Instead of being pessimistic and dissatisfied with the current environment, I believe it's important to think about what we can do in this environment, what we can achieve, and how we can enjoy it. Recently, there have been many warm days. Spring is already just around the corner♪ May the production of temporary materials also see the thawing of the cold (`・∀・´) Boom!! *For more, please check the link below.
