Report on the installation example of the lubrication system for wind power plant gearboxes. For the safety and reliability of fluid systems where regular inspections are difficult due to installation environments, such as offshore.
A Magnum has been adopted for the lubrication line of a 750 kW generator's gearbox located in Sweden. A Magnom Clear 5" was installed downstream of an existing 10-micron filter, and after six months of normal operation, when the internal core was removed, a significant amount of contamination, including metal wear particles as small as 0.2 microns, was found, surprising those involved. Such fine metal contamination can trigger a wear chain in the gearbox, demonstrating the performance of the Magnum filter, which can efficiently and safely remove it. Wind power is relatively efficient, converting about 30-40% of the kinetic energy of wind into electrical energy, making it difficult to emit greenhouse gases, and is therefore attracting attention as one of the measures for SDGs. However, due to the difficulty of regular inspections depending on the installation location (such as offshore), the safety and reliability of fluid systems are particularly important.
