Until now, elevation work in flood-prone areas has involved either moving buildings sideways or lifting them up and raising the ground with fill. When moving a building sideways, proper site preparation can be done, but in places where there is no space to move, site preparation is carried out under the lifted building, making construction difficult and often resulting in insufficient compaction. If water seeps in the future, there remains a risk of building settlement.
