Ground reinforcement work | Reducing environmental impact and costs with the CWC method that prevents excessive additives.
Ground reinforcement work
The Cross-Wing Column Method enhances the environmental performance of ground reinforcement works. It prevents the excessive addition of cement solidifying agents, constructing a resource-efficient and eco-friendly foundation.
In the modern construction industry, where a high level of environmental consideration and structural safety must be balanced, the selection of appropriate ground reinforcement methods is an extremely important issue. The Cross Wing Column Method (CWC Method) provided by Geotech Co., Ltd. is a sustainable slurry-based deep mixing treatment method that uniformly mixes local soil and cement slurry with high precision using a patented unique shape of intersecting six-blade mixing wings. Its greatest feature is the ability to minimize the variability in the strength of the improved body (coefficient of variation below 25%), significantly reducing the excessive addition of cement solidifying agents that would account for safety margins. This not only contributes to cost reduction in material expenses but also helps reduce CO2 emissions associated with cement production and transportation. Furthermore, for small-scale buildings, the omission of indoor mixing tests is officially recognized, leading to a reduction in waste from trial production and site waste, as well as shortening construction periods. Geotech builds environmentally friendly and reliable foundation structures through its unique QMS management and strict on-site operations. Please feel free to consult us.

basic information
The environmental specifications of the CWC method are compatible with sandy soil, clayey soil, and loam layers. The amount of solidifying agent is based on a minimum of 150 kg/m3 for sandy soil, 200 kg/m3 for clayey soil, and 300 kg/m3 for loam layers (using loam-compatible type), allowing for a design that minimizes excess additives. The design strength standard is between 400 and 1500 kN/m2, and the column diameter ranges from φ400 mm to φ1200 mm. The maximum improvement length is 22 m for general specifications (12 m for loam) and 12 m for small-scale specifications. The number of blade cuts (maintained strictly at 450 to 550 cuts/m or more) ensures high quality and low environmental impact.

Applications/Examples of results
This construction method is ideal for building projects that require technical certification from third-party organizations and the presentation of objective structural safety. It is widely used for residential applications such as single-family homes, apartments, and mid-rise condominiums, as well as for ground reinforcement of retaining walls, structures, and tower foundations, where smooth progress in confirmation applications and conformity assessments is desired. In particular, this method is suitable for clients and guarantees that align with environmentally conscious construction and civil engineering projects aimed at achieving a decarbonized society and responding to ESG investments. It is utilized in construction plans of major housing manufacturers, builders, and general contractors that aim for resource conservation in housing materials and reduction of environmental impact, as well as in single-family homes and apartments in urban areas with strict CO2 emission regulations, various stores, and retaining wall construction. It is highly regarded as a next-generation ground reinforcement technology that balances environmental conservation and economic efficiency at sites where reliable foundation support is desired while avoiding excessive use of improvement materials. It is chosen as a ground improvement technology that can publicly demonstrate safety in public and private construction projects that emphasize traceability of quality data and where clear evidence needs to be presented to organizations.
