Site Investigation | Visualization Survey of Ground Bearing Capacity to Optimize Pile Layout for New Building Construction on Soft Ground
Boring survey
3D visualization of ground bearing capacity for new building construction on weak ground! It simultaneously achieves the maintenance of structural safety and optimization of construction costs by preventing excessive piling.
This technical solution is a high-level ground investigation service aimed at new construction plans for mid-rise and heavy-load buildings on soft ground, optimizing pile layout and foundation structure by visualizing ground bearing capacity from multiple perspectives. In construction sites where uneven soft layers or complex inclined supporting layers exist, relying solely on conventional single-point investigations for design can lead to excessive design, overestimating pile lengths and numbers to avoid settlement risks. Geotech conducts high-precision N-value acquisition through standard penetration tests and multi-point integrated analysis of deep penetration data, accurately visualizing the long-term and short-term allowable vertical bearing capacity of the ground and layer thickness changes in 3D images. By directly linking the obtained structural strength parameters to the architectural structural calculation model, it is possible to accurately determine the optimal pile layout and shortest pile length according to the actual load under each column. This eliminates unnecessary pile driving work and head cutting processes at the construction site, significantly reducing overall construction costs and timelines while perfectly ensuring structural safety. Furthermore, our qualified specialists prepare judgment documents that clearly outline the basis for analysis, allowing for a swift progression of structural conformity assessments and building confirmation reviews.

basic information
This survey service will perform automatic acquisition of continuous Nd values using a self-propelled ram-sounding testing machine, in addition to boring surveys accompanied by standard penetration tests. It can reach a maximum exploration depth of 30 meters and is capable of robustly advancing through hard support layers exceeding N values of 50. Measurement data will be continuously recorded in 200mm increments, and after correction calculations for rod surface friction, a correlation conversion to standard penetration test N values will be conducted. Furthermore, a comparative analysis will be performed with neighboring ground data accumulated in our proprietary database, GEODAS, to output allowable vertical bearing capacity and estimated settlement amounts.

Applications/Examples of results
It is primarily used for the design of pile foundations and optimization of pile layouts for mid-rise and high-rise buildings, office buildings, reinforced concrete condominiums, and steel-framed commercial facilities constructed in soft ground areas. It is ideal for situations where one wants to prevent excessive pile length design in redevelopment areas with uneven embankments and alluvial layers, or to enhance the verification accuracy of pile head bending and shear forces in structural calculations. Additionally, it is widely used as ground evidence for sites in densely populated urban areas where concerns about existing demolition debris exist, or for projects that aim to smoothly pass structural compatibility assessments.
