[Construction Case] Miyagi Prefecture Onagawa Fishing Port Miyagasaki Wharf Disaster Recovery Work
"The surface drainage is becoming a puddle due to the unevenness" "It is hindering the operation of the forklift" Solved by the Upcon method.
This is a construction case study of the unloading quay at Onagawa Fishing Port and Fish Market in Miyagi Prefecture. The structure allowed for the continuous surface drainage of used water and seawater from the unloading area towards the quay. However, due to ground subsidence, a step was created in the concrete pavement, causing surface drainage to form puddles, which hindered the loading and unloading of cargo and the movement of forklifts. The Upcon method was adopted because it allowed for the correction of the step without breaking the concrete pavement and within a short construction period. 【Site Information】 Disaster Recovery Work at Miyagasaki Quay, Onagawa Fishing Port Construction Area: 338 square meters Maximum Subsidence: 32mm Construction Period: 5 days For more details on the construction process, you can view the PDF download below.

basic information
■ What is the Upcon Method? The Upcon method involves drilling small holes with a diameter of 16mm into concrete pavement slabs that have experienced sinking, unevenness, tilting, or gaps. While continuously monitoring the level in millimeter increments, polyurethane resin is injected. The resin injected beneath the slab immediately expands due to a chemical reaction, compacting and strengthening the ground, which improves the bearing capacity and lifts the concrete slab back into position with the pressure from the expansion. The required strength is achieved in about 120 minutes, significantly contributing to a shorter construction period. Additionally, if there are gaps beneath the concrete pavement slab, the material can expand and fill even the smallest spaces, ensuring complete filling without voids. ■ Features of the Upcon Method 1. Short construction period: The construction time is one-tenth that of conventional methods. 2. No need to stop operations: Heavy equipment or material relocation is unnecessary. 3. Comprehensive high technical capability: 100% in-house staff. 4. Compact construction system: Quick restoration to the original condition is possible. 5. Reduced risk of re-sinking compared to conventional methods. We provide total support, including on-site surveys, repair planning, and construction, with our in-house staff taking full responsibility. Our specialized and experienced staff, trained in the field, will propose the optimal repair plan tailored to your site.
