It has become clear that "welding fumes" in metal arc welding and similar operations may pose health risks such as neurological disorders to workers. Therefore, to promote exposure prevention measures and health management for workers, a legal amendment will require that in indoor workplaces where metal arc welding and similar operations are continuously conducted, the concentration of welding fumes in the air must be measured as stipulated by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.
