Embankment Reinforced Soil Wall Method
The RRR method (Reinforced Railroad with Rigid Facing-Method) is a new soil retention (reinforced earth wall) technique developed as an alternative to traditional retaining wall methods, utilizing the principles of reinforced soil engineering. Traditional retaining walls are structures that, from a mechanical perspective, aim to support external forces (earth pressure) exerted by the soil through the weight of the structure and the ground reaction of the foundation, opposing the soil and relying on force to counteract force. In contrast, the reinforced earth wall method promotes the stabilization of the soil itself by placing tensile reinforcement materials within the soil, representing a structural philosophy that seeks to coexist with the soil.

basic information
【Features】 ○ The reinforcement material is a lattice-shaped planar geotextile, which allows for easy friction and interlocking effects with the soil, enabling a reduction in the length of the reinforcement material installation. ○ The geotextile is arranged relatively densely, allowing for a wide range of applicable fill materials. ○ After the construction of the reinforced fill, waiting for the deformation of the fill to stabilize allows for the construction of a rigid, integrated wall surface, ensuring sufficient compaction close to the slope, resulting in high stability and minimal deformation of the fill after the wall is completed. ○ By integrating a wall surface with bending rigidity and planar reinforcement materials to construct a reinforced soil retaining wall, seismic resistance is significantly improved. (Proven during the 1995 Hyogo-ken Nanbu Earthquake) ○ There is no corrosion of the reinforcement material due to stray currents in railways. ○ It is possible to integrate the foundation of utility poles with the wall surface in railways. ○ The construction of vertical or nearly vertical wall surfaces (retaining structures) is possible, significantly reducing the land area required compared to conventional fills. ○ Construction can be carried out without large machinery, making it feasible in narrower land areas and confined spaces compared to traditional fills. ● For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.

The RRR Method Association was established in July 1991 with the aim of promoting and improving the technology of reinforced soil methods that effectively utilize the effects of planar reinforcement materials or rod-shaped reinforcement materials and rigid wall surfaces to provide rational and highly stable soil structures. At its inception, the association started with a total of 63 regular and associate members and has since actively worked towards the dissemination and technological advancement of the RRR method. As of June 2008, 17 years after the establishment of the association, it has developed into an organization with a proven track record of over 100 km in reinforced soil retaining walls in the fields of railways and roads. This achievement is entirely thanks to the support and cooperation of everyone involved, for which we express our heartfelt gratitude.
