Relatively soft material with excellent magnetostrictive properties

Since a flexible and soft magnetostrictive material does not exist,a soft magnetostrictive composite has been developed by mixing magnetostrictive material with resin. Wire and thin sheet from iron-based magnetostrictive alloy have also been developed as filler embedded in the matrix. However, although these magnetostrictive composite materials are soft, strong processing causes modification in the internal crystal orientation and generates internal defect, resulting in a significant reduction in magnetostrictive properties. In addition, since the filler material consisting of magnetostrictive material of predetermined dimension is embedded into the matrix, the composite material becomes a bit hard.  This invention is able to provide a magnetostrictive composite material which is relatively soft with excellent magnetostrictive properties, and its manufacturing method. This invention consists of an iron based magnetostrictive alloy which is characterized by a large number of wire shape having a predetermined range of diameter and length dispersed in a resin matrix which has excellent flexibility and softness. It also has an excellent magnetostrictive properties since the strong processing has only a limited impact on magnetostrictive properties modification.

Improves the coating of metals and metal compounds, prevents peeling and cracking, and ensures corrosion resistance!

 Silicon carbide materials and silicon carbide fiber-reinforced composites are expected to replace Zircaloy and other metals as structural materials for next-generation nuclear reactors. However, these materials require anticorrosion coatings when they are exposed to radiation, high temperatures, and high-pressure water. Although metal coatings have been used in the past, there has been a problem that they cannot fully exert their anticorrosion function due to delamination and cracking of the substrate caused by thermal expansion coefficient differences and swelling differences.   A silicon carbide layer, an intermediate layer and a coating layer are laminated on a substrate. As a result, it has become possible to provide a silicon carbide material or a silicon carbide fiber-reinforced composites composed of full ceramics with improved anticorrosion function by alleviating thermal expansion coefficient difference and swelling difference with a base material.

Waste-free CNF/highly dispersed, high-loading AgNPs composite Catalysts, conductors, antimicrobials, thermal control, solder paste

Cellulose nanofiber (CNF) and silver nanoparticle (AgNPs) composites serve as excellent dispersible carriers that maximize silver’s conductivity, catalytic activity, and antimicrobial performance. CNF, being plant-derived and environmentally friendly, also aligns with SDG goals. Conventional wet reduction methods, however, generate wastewater and require washing steps, leading to environmental issues and complex processing. This invention introduces an ultrasonication-based method that both disperses CNF uniformly and reduces silver oxide to form CNF/AgNPs composites without harmful reagents. The simple, waste-free process offers higher silver loading and better silver dispersion than conventional methods, enhancing silver’s inherent properties.

This invention presents a new platform for creating organic-CaCO₃ composite materials with pearl-like multilayer nanostructures using a bio-manufacturing process involving yeast and koji mold.  Building on prior research into the bio-mineralization of Pteria penguin pearls, the inventors have successfully expressed the related proteins and enzymes in yeast to produce highly controlled multilayer CaCO₃ crystals. High-Performance Materials :By optimizing the expression of matrix proteins and enzymes, the crystal structure and material properties can be precisely controlled. Sustainability :The fermentation-based production process enables large-scale manufacturing with minimal environmental impact and low cost.

Research and development is being conducted to further enhance the functionality and performance of space-mounted equipment.

"Tri-axial woven composite materials" have a proven track record for antennas used in artificial satellites and exploration vehicles, holding a significant share both domestically and internationally. Currently, we are engaged in research and development of space deployable structures that can be compactly stored for launch and then expand large in the space environment as a next-generation space development technology. Leveraging our research achievements in space materials technology, antenna technology, and space deployable structures, we have successfully developed experimental devices for scientific observation rockets and for the International Space Station. In the future, based on the experience of these demonstrations and practical applications, as well as the valuable data obtained, we plan to aim for further high functionality and high performance of space-mounted equipment.
