Copper-clad aluminum composite material "CCA"
Copper-aluminum composite material "CCA" developed by Applied Composite Material (ACM) Inc.
For lightweighting copper components! Copper-based parts that couldn't be aluminumized in the past may be achievable with CCA!
CCA is a new type of copper-aluminum clad material that uses isothermal processing technology (patented internationally) to achieve a metallurgical bond of copper to an aluminum core. While maintaining the excellent properties of copper, such as conductivity, it also combines the advantages of aluminum, which are lightweight and low-cost. Unlike clad materials made of bonded dissimilar metals, CCA features a shape where copper completely covers the aluminum. It boasts excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, heat dissipation, solderability, and plating properties, along with high ductility and ease of processing. It is metallurgically bonded through a controlled high-temperature isothermal process, which also prevents oxidation. In addition to drilling and bending, it can be adapted for processing operations such as deep drawing, twisting, and cutting.

Price information
When comparing the unit weight prices of copper and aluminum individually, they are expensive, but since the weight can be reduced even with the same surface volume, overall cost reduction is possible. For more details, please contact us.

Applications/Examples of results
It is used in the automotive, aerospace, electrical and electronic equipment industries, and many other industries. In particular, it is possible to achieve weight reduction by switching from copper to materials that conduct electricity. Additionally, I believe there have been many cases in the past where the fluctuation in copper prices led to considerations of aluminum. With this CCA, it is possible to secure conductivity that significantly exceeds that of aluminum, thus expanding the possibilities for realization.
Detailed information
-
The components that were using pure copper busbars have been changed to CCA. It was necessary to increase the size slightly compared to when using pure copper, but we were able to reduce the weight by about half, successfully achieving weight reduction and a total cost reduction.

Company information
<Metal Materials Trading Division> With a rich inventory and four slitting facilities, we supply materials nationwide from our Higashi-Osaka Coil Center. We specialize in the sale of copper alloy materials and non-ferrous metal materials. In addition to traditional copper alloy materials, we are actively promoting the next-generation copper-aluminum clad material "CCA" in collaboration with ACM (Applied Composite Material Corp.). <Metal Processing Division> We excel in processing small quantities of a wide variety of metal pipes. Our diverse techniques include coil winding, R-bending, various bending processes, and welding. We handle everything from one-off parts used in heat exchanger components and machinery to larger quantities for automotive, consumer, and residential applications. In the world of bending processing, where small lots are common, the presence or absence of molds becomes quite important. We propose a mix of our own molds and equipment, as well as those from partner factories. Additionally, our precision cutting processing using NC automatic lathes leverages the procurement advantages unique to Tatsumiya, which has a metal materials trading division, enhancing customer satisfaction through technical expertise, procurement power, and cost efficiency. With over 90 years of establishment as a processing trading company, we view the 100-year mark as a milestone and will continue to build a great company in the future.
