A small penetration device equipped with crawler self-propelling legs (weight 1,630 kg, total width 0.83 m, total height 2.57 m) will be used. It can approach in densely populated urban areas with a transport route width of 1.5 m or more and a working space height of 3.0 m or more. A hammer weighing 63.5 kg will be dropped 500 mm onto a rod fitted with a cone with a tip angle of 90 degrees and an outer diameter of 45 mm, and the number of penetration strikes (Nd value) and torque for rod surface friction correction will be automatically measured and recorded up to a maximum depth of 30 m. The obtained Nd value will be immediately correlated and converted into the standard penetration test N value (N value of 50 or more) within the system.
