Site Investigation | Optimizing Pile Length through Data Comparison and On-Site Survey in Narrow Areas where Large Machinery Cannot Access
Boring survey
We will conduct on-site sounding surveys using small machinery and compare them with neighboring data in the construction of a steel frame building on a narrow site, to determine the optimal pile length and prevent piling troubles.
In urban dense areas and on narrow sites, the construction of steel frame buildings faces challenges such as the difficulty of bringing in large survey equipment, ensuring sufficient support layer data, and planning smooth pile driving operations. GeoTech's on-site responsive solutions introduce a compact, mobile automatic ram-sounding testing machine to the site, enabling high-precision automatic ground measurements in a space-saving and time-efficient manner. Furthermore, by real-time correlating and complementing the abundant surrounding boring records and on-site measurement data stored in its own database, it accurately determines the inclination and continuity of support layers that are difficult to discern with single-point investigations. By obtaining accurate data in advance, it prevents on-site troubles such as insufficient pile length or excessive overburden during pile driving, allowing for the appropriate selection and ordering of steel pipe piles and certified methods. This dramatically improves on-site work efficiency and eliminates unnecessary rework, strongly promoting safe and planned construction management, and providing long-term support for the smooth completion of projects on site.

basic information
The equipment is a small automatic penetration device equipped with self-propelled truck legs, capable of operating in narrow areas with a transport path width of 1.5m or more and a working space height of 3.0m or more. It continuously drops a 63.5kg hammer from a height of 500mm onto a rod fitted with a cone with a tip angle of 90 degrees and an outer diameter of 45mm, automatically recording the number of strikes (Nd value) every 200mm up to a depth of 30m. It includes an automatic torque measurement function to reduce surface friction, and the measurement data is instantly converted to CSV format on-site. It also has a high-precision conversion processing function for neighboring boring N values.

Applications/Examples of results
It is utilized in the construction management practices of new steel-framed buildings, apartment construction, and renovation work carried out in densely populated urban areas and commercial districts. It is particularly effective for pile foundation construction planning at sites along narrow roads where the entry of large vehicles is prohibited, and at demolition sites where underground obstacles are a concern. Additionally, it is optimal for setting management values for concrete placement at construction sites, final checks on embedment depth, and reducing the labor involved in handling excess piles, thus ensuring uniformity in construction quality and managing costs and timelines by construction representatives and site supervisors.
