We will achieve optical characteristics that have not been realized until now by periodically changing the refractive index. Conventional optical filters (optical thin films) consist of alternating layers of high refractive index films and low refractive index films, which exhibit specific optical properties. In contrast, notch filters (band-stop filters) are deposition products designed to periodically change the refractive index in the thickness direction. They are characterized by the absence of optical ripples outside the stopband. We can realize optical characteristics that have not been achievable with conventional optical thin film processing.
