How do you set turn down on a process transmitter and what are its benefits? In this video, we will explain the turn down function in the field of electronic pressure measurement (also referred to as "span adjustment"). Instruments that measure pressure electronically consist of two types: pressure sensors and process transmitters. While both are used for various industrial measurement applications, process transmitters have several additional features compared to pressure sensors. - Direct setting of measurement parameters on the device - Display of important process information - Setting of turn down

basic information
What does turndown mean? The turndown function is a feature that allows you to set a new measurement range within the existing measurement range. The measurement accuracy within the range specified by the turndown is improved. Turndown can be set not only in a reduced pressure state but also via HART or other bus systems. The functionality of turndown is explained in more detail through the following example: - The measurement range of a pressure transmitter is 0 to 1.6 bar. - With the turndown function, you can freely set within a fixed range of 0.4 to 1.2 bar. - Once set, measurements will only be taken within the specified range. - The output signal of 4 to 20 mA is limited to a smaller range, allowing for more accurate measurements. Setting turndown offers three benefits: - Improved measurement accuracy within the set range. - Cost reduction: can be used for different measurement ranges with one model. - Overpressure protection can be achieved without sacrificing accuracy.
