Recommended for such workplaces: - Machine processing workplaces are often said to have "low productivity." - Work is highly dependent on individuals, with constraints on equipment and tasks. - Lot sizes are decreasing, and the proportion of setup time is increasing. - Aside from delivery dates, there aren't many metrics that are closely monitored. - IE? basic information
In the case of machining workplaces, focusing on increasing the equipment utilization rate of one's own workplace leads to a lack of the concept of support between processes or workplaces, resulting in no overall increase in productivity. By producing with an awareness of flow, the idea of support between processes and workplaces emerges, which also raises the overall productivity of the workplace. Additionally, reducing work-in-progress inventory shortens the movement lines within the factory and improves the efficiency of storage operations, thereby enhancing productivity within the factory. Therefore, it is important to manage not only equipment utilization rates and productivity at the process level but also the overall productivity of the workplace.
