The "polynomial Pitot tube" is not a throttling structure like an orifice or a venturi, allowing for very low permanent pressure loss. With multiple total pressure measurement ports and static pressure measurement ports provided, it can measure the average flow velocity in the piping and detect stable flow rates. To prevent clogging of the measurement ports, which is the biggest weakness of the Pitot tube, the Pitot tube sensor performs continuous purging during measurement.

The biggest weakness of the Pitot tube flow meter, which is the clogging of the measurement orifice, is resolved by the purge system. To enable the measurement of the average flow rate within the piping, multiple measurement orifices are provided, and purge air is continuously supplied to the Pitot tube flow meter during measurement, allowing for measurements to be taken without being affected by clogging or corrosion from dust, mist, or particulates.
