The "Wildlife Damage Control and Game Utilization Exhibition 2022" will be held from October 26 (Wednesday) to 28 (Friday) at the West Exhibition Hall of Tokyo Big Sight. There are significant issues such as damage to agricultural products caused by wild animals, a decrease in the number of people involved in animal capture, and an aging population. This exhibition brings together information related to measures against wildlife damage to crops, capture techniques, and the utilization of game after capture, including capture technologies using ICT and drones, intrusion prevention fences, and cameras. Our company will showcase products such as the "Camera-equipped IoT Pest Monitoring and Notification Sensor & AI-equipped Dashboard System" and "IoT Pest Capture Monitoring and Notification Sensor." We intend to listen to the opinions of those involved with wildlife and continue to improve our products in the future. Nantan City, located in the central part of Kyoto Prefecture, is a municipality with an area of 616.40 square kilometers (13.4 percent of Kyoto Prefecture) that borders Fukui Prefecture and Shiga Prefecture to the north, Hyogo Prefecture and Osaka Prefecture to the south, Ayabe City and Kyotanba Town to the west, and Kyoto City and Kameoka City to the east. To minimize damage to agricultural and forestry crops caused by wild birds and animals, Nantan City conducts harmful wildlife control throughout the year through the Nantan City Hunting Association's capture team. This time, with the cooperation of the Miyama Branch, we have installed a new wildlife capture monitoring sensor for demonstration purposes on a drum-type capture device for bears. This year, there have been more bear sightings than usual, and we have heard that Nantan City is urging residents to be cautious. It is said that bear activity will become more active as we approach late December when they enter hibernation. By utilizing the new wildlife capture monitoring sensor, we hope to enable efficient capture operations by sending simultaneous notifications to multiple individuals at the time of capture, and above all, to contribute to the safety and security of those involved in the capture. We are determined to make further efforts to assist Nantan City in its wildlife measures, taking this opportunity as a catalyst.

The 8th National Wildlife Damage Countermeasure Summit (scheduled to be held on February 17, 2021) has been canceled due to the need to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, and it has been changed to a video presentation format. On October 17, 2020, the demonstration project "Comprehensive Support Project for Demonstration Experiments" in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, received support for the "Pest Control Based on Data from IoT-Enabled Wild Boar Detection Sensors and Dashboard Systems." The demonstration period is from January 24, 2021 (Sunday) to March 31, 2021 (Wednesday). In the area around Mount Zao, damage to crops caused by wild boars, as well as human and traffic-related incidents affecting local residents, has been increasing. The deployment rate of capture teams has more than doubled compared to last year, and there is a reality of decreasing participation due to the aging of those involved in pest control efforts. This demonstration experiment aims to enhance the efficiency of capture results, which have traditionally been generated by human activities, by utilizing data obtained through IoT solutions, with the goal of increasing both the number and rate of captures. The infrared sensors installed at eight locations around Mount Zao detect wild animals such as wild boars and record data including date, time, location, weather, and temperature. Additionally, information from residents and hunting associations regarding sightings will be aggregated to visualize the accumulated wild boar sighting data, leading to more effective captures.
