Tree species name: Manga Shiro (Merapi) Variety: Family: Fabaceae, Genus: Shorea, hardwood Specific gravity: 0.39–0.87 Origin: It has a very wide distribution, found in Southeast Asia including the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Myanmar. Characteristics: The wood grain is interlaced, and the texture is coarse. It has a golden brown luster. It has good drying and adhesive properties but is prone to splitting when nailed. It contains silica, so tools wear out quickly during processing. Its decay resistance is moderate. Uses: It has a wide range of applications including custom materials, building materials, furniture materials, decorative plywood, and laminated wood. Caution: It is one of the representative tropical woods. In the Philippines, it is called Manga Shiro, in Yellow Lawan, and in Malaysia's Sabah, it is referred to as Merapi, with different names depending on the producing country.
