This is a pencil hardness testing machine specified in JIS-K5600-5-4 for scratch hardness (pencil method). When conducting pencil hardness tests by hand, the evaluations can vary depending on the operator, leading to a lack of reliability. By using a dedicated pencil hardness testing machine, differences caused by human factors can be eliminated, allowing tests to be conducted under the same conditions every time. The machine comes with a set of 14 Mitsubishi Uni pencils specifically for pencil hardness testing by the Japan Paint Inspection Association. There are three types available with loads of 750g, 1,000g, and 500g.
