Our company will invite professors who are active at the forefront of university research to hold a web technology course in the construction field. This time, as a follow-up to "The Effects and Design Considerations of Shield Tunnels in Proximity and Adjacent Situations - Part 1," which was published in July, we will have a lecture by Professor Noriyuki Horiuchi from Kokushikan University. In "Part 1," we explained the phenomena of the effects caused by proximity and adjacent shield tunnels, using examples of left-right adjacency and passing beneath existing tunnels, as well as the basic concepts of numerical evaluation. In "Part 2," we will focus on the vertical adjacency of large-section shields. We will introduce analytical methods for numerically evaluating the impact on existing tunnels, surrounding ground, and existing underground structures, using actual site measurement data and FEM sequential excavation analysis, specifically in cases where large-section shields are constructed above or below existing tunnels. We will also discuss methods for predictive analysis, design, and construction considerations. This course will be beneficial for those studying for the "Professional Engineer Examination," so please take this opportunity to participate. In recent years, the aging of infrastructure and the frequent occurrence of natural disasters in Japan have increasingly highlighted the importance of bridge design and maintenance. In particular, as revisions to design standards and the introduction of new analytical methods are required, establishing more rational and practical design and evaluation methods has become a challenge. This course is designed to be widely useful not only for those using Midas IT Japan's products but also for civil engineering designers and engineers. Furthermore, this web technology course is expected to be a CPD-certified program by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers, and can be participated in as part of engineer education. We are pleased to invite professionals active in structural design practice to introduce the latest initiatives in the field of architectural structures and practical applications of MIDAS iGEN. In Case Study 1, we will present analysis examples of three-dimensional structures, such as shell structures and folded plate structures, which cannot be fully expressed through floor plans, elevations, or sections. We will highlight analysis examples that achieved distinctive structural designs, such as pavilions and staircases for the Osaka-Kansai Expo. In Case Study 2, we will introduce the design of a children's play facility that combines a reinforced concrete base with a composite shell structure of steel and wood, realizing a large space of approximately 30 meters. We will showcase the practice of digital engineering in design and construction, from precise shape considerations using digital technology and online collaboration to the rationalization of components and improvement of constructability. From the design of three-dimensional structures to the use of digital technology in design and construction, we will deliver practical insights into a wide range of approaches in structural design and how to utilize MIDAS iGEN effectively. Additionally, each presentation is structured to be compact, lasting 20 to 30 minutes, making it easy for busy individuals to view.
