Technical Documentation: About ISCEF Viscous Boundary

A detailed explanation using diagrams about free spaces and dashpot elements!

This technical document introduces the ISCEF viscous boundary. A viscous boundary is a boundary condition that absorbs energy from reflected waves at the boundary surface of the analytical model, such as from structures. Generally, in ground models, a viscous boundary is set at the bottom surface with the foundation and a viscous boundary is set laterally with the free ground. In ISCEF, by setting the viscous boundary at the interface, subsequent settings will be performed automatically as described later. [Contents] ■1. Normal viscous boundary (viscous boundary using dashpot elements) ■2. Viscous boundary based on the principle of virtual work *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Technical Documentation: About Eigenvalue Analysis

Publication on free vibrations ignoring damping! Detailed explanation using formulas.

This technical document introduces eigenvalue analysis. Eigenvalue analysis of structural vibration problems refers to the analysis that calculates the frequencies and deformation modes when a structure undergoes free vibration. These frequencies are called natural frequencies, and when external loads with frequencies close to these natural frequencies are applied, resonance phenomena occur. In real phenomena, structures vibrate at their natural frequencies while experiencing damping during free vibration; however, this document will explain free vibration while ignoring damping. The Theory of OPTISHAPE-TS: Sensitivity of Compliance, Part 5

An approach based on the variational method! Deriving the sensitivity with respect to the function representing the cross-sectional area.

Last time, we discussed how to determine the sensitivity of compliance in a one-dimensional cantilever beam by defining the Lagrange function with design variables represented as a function of cross-sectional area. This time, let's look at an approach based on the calculus of variations to derive the stationary conditions and the derivatives with respect to the cross-sectional area. Please feel free to download and take a look. [Contents] ■ Episode 27 Sensitivity of Compliance Part 5 "Derivation of Sensitivity with Respect to the Function Representing Cross-Sectional Area" *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Example] Linear static analysis considering initial bolt load

Linear static analysis using beam elements and bar elements for bolt connection parts!!!

**Case Summary** ■Product Name: NX Nastran ■Industry: Mechanical Components NX Nastran allows for various analyses considering pre-tensioned bolts (linear static analysis, nonlinear static analysis SOL601, linear buckling analysis, etc.). Using the Femap interface, modeling of bolt connections with beam elements, bar elements, and solid elements, as well as the setting of bolt loads, can be done easily. This case modeled the bolts using bar elements and solid elements and compared the results from both methods. Two fittings with a surface static friction coefficient of 0.15 were fastened with M10 bolts. An axial force of 150 kgf was applied, with one side fixed, and a linear static analysis was performed (Figure 1). The comparison of results from the bar elements and solid elements showed that the maximum and minimum Mises stress values and the maximum and minimum displacement values for the two fittings were the same for both methods. ● For more features and details, please download the catalog.
