When it comes to structural analysis, Abaqus is the go-to. It predicts contact and crack propagation with high precision.

Integration of implicit and explicit methods. For elucidating a wide range of phenomena such as heat, electricity, magnetic fields, and fluids.

In nonlinear structural analysis, the three key nonlinearities are material, geometry, and boundary conditions. In recent design practices, there is a necessity to consider contact in assembly components using complex material models. Abaqus can accurately model not only classical metal material constitutive laws but also failure models due to rate dependence and polymers such as rubber and resin. Additionally, the innovative formulation of surface-to-surface contact achieves more robust convergence and higher analysis accuracy compared to other structural analysis tools. The general contact feature requires minimal user setup, significantly reducing the time needed to define contacts in complex assemblies seen in automobiles, aircraft, consumer electronics, and portable electronic devices.

[Case Study] Analysis of Complex Shape Models - Reducing Labor Costs -

"VOXELCON" is a structural analysis software that directly models STL data from CT and CAD for analysis and measurement purposes.

When creating an analysis model by mesh partitioning from a detailed CAD model created as design data, the following issues can be noted: - The number of elements becomes enormous, leading to high computational costs. - Mesh partitioning is difficult and requires the tips and techniques of experienced users. Additionally, the analysis results depend on the mesh partitioning. - In some cases, automatic element partitioning is not possible. However, even if you try to analyze using a simplified shape... - The effort required for simplification is significant. - Evaluating the impact of simplification on analysis accuracy is cumbersome. These issues can be resolved by VOXELCON's voxel mesh generation technology. Even complex shapes can be easily converted into analysis models, reducing the man-hours required for analysis. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Shape optimization for equalizing reaction forces ★ Detailed materials available

Consider "reaction force" as a manufacturing requirement! Reduce the reaction force values at points with high fixed-point reaction forces!

We will perform non-parametric shape optimization to ensure that the reaction forces at the bolted fixed points are equal, and we will introduce a case that reduces the reaction force values at the locations with high fixed point reaction forces. The analysis model completely fixes four bolted points and applies a load of 1,000N in the Z-axis direction. In the evaluation of the initial shape, the reaction force value at the lower left part was the largest, reaching 415.1N. 【Case Overview】 ■Optimization Conditions - Objective Function: Volume Minimization - Constraints: Reaction force of 250N in the Z-axis direction at each fixed point, 3.0 times the compliance of the initial shape - Shape Variation Restrictions (constraints related to manufacturing requirements): Minimum thickness, maintaining the plane of the Z component on one side For further details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Example] Shape optimization considering stress

Using "OPTISHAPE-TS"! Introducing optimization cases with different stress constraints based on model parts.

In strength design, stress serves as an important guideline. When performing strength assessments based on stress, it is necessary to change the evaluation stress values according to different parts, not just relying on the maximum value. In such cases, by specifying constraint stress values for each region, it is possible to obtain an optimal shape that constrains stress at multiple evaluation points and all locations. This time, we will introduce an optimization case that applies different stress constraints based on the model's parts. [Contents] ■ Overview ■ Analysis Model ■ Optimization Conditions ■ Results ■ Discussion *Detailed information about the case can be viewed through the related links. [Case Study] Accuracy Verification of Displacement and Temperature Using Finite Covering Method (FCM)

I will introduce the issues with voxel analysis and a case study applying FCM as a solution!

The displacement solution of static stress analysis, or the temperature solution of steady-state heat conduction analysis, generally does not produce significant errors as long as the shape is accurately represented. However, there are cases where errors can become substantial. When the original shape does not match the voxel pitch, discrepancies in the shape occur. Therefore, to achieve better accuracy in the analysis, it is necessary to refine the mesh, which increases the model size. Here, we will introduce a case study applying FCM as a solution to this issue. 【Contents】 ■ Overview - Issues with voxel analysis ■ Analysis Model - Boundary conditions ■ Analysis Results - Static stress analysis / Steady-state heat conduction analysis *Detailed information about the case study can be viewed through the related links. The theory of OPTISHAPE-TS: Evaluating the maximum value of the KS function.

Introduction to the evaluation method for maximum values using something called the KS function!

In OPTISHAPE-TS, it is possible to evaluate the maximum values of functions distributed over the model, such as "maximum Mises stress" and "maximum displacement." However, if we literally use the maximum value as the evaluation function, we will not be able to evaluate the derivatives, making it impossible to determine sensitivity. This time, I will introduce a method for evaluating maximum values using a function called the KS function, which is adopted in OPTISHAPE-TS. Please feel free to download and take a look. [Case Study] Improving the Efficiency of Repetitive Calculations Using Super Element Function

Reduce the computational load of large-scale models!! It can also be utilized for information security!!

**Case Summary** ■Product Name: NX Nastran ■Industry: Mechanical Components The super-element feature of NX Nastran reduces computational load by dividing large models for analysis or by reducing parts of the model (external super-elements) to create a smaller analysis model, thereby shortening computation time when changes are made to other parts. In this case, when designing the natural frequency of a fan blade, the non-changing boss section was reduced as an external super-element and analyzed in conjunction with the mesh model of the blade section to verify analysis accuracy and evaluate computation time reduction. This method saves computation time in cases where there are many repetitive calculations, such as performance evaluations during the design phase or countermeasure considerations at the component level, and the more unchanged parts there are, the more significant the benefits. Additionally, by converting in-house component models into super-elements and providing them to other companies, the shapes can be treated as black boxes, which can also be utilized for information security. □ For other features and details, please refer to the catalog.

[Case Report] Vibration Analysis SNAP

Detailed analysis of seismic performance evaluation. The proven capabilities of SNAP through vibration control design!

We would like to introduce a case study of the vibration analysis tool "SNAP." Yamashita Design, Inc. is one of Japan's leading comprehensive design firms, responsible for the Kasumigaseki Building, the first super high-rise building in Japan. Recently, proposals emphasizing structural planning have become essential for securing contracts for the design of government and private facilities, with seismic isolation design becoming standard in hospital architecture and vibration control structures in office buildings. The need for response analysis using three-dimensional models has been increasing to analyze complex structures. Due to the impact of legal revisions and the need to adapt to advancements in analysis technology, maintaining and managing in-house programs has become challenging, leading to the decision to adopt commercial programs, with "SNAP" being one of the options. Since there are currently few case studies of its adoption, when creating models in SNAP, we verify input data and calculation results while working, and we have reached out to support with questions whenever doubts arise. The support staff are well-versed in the program's details, providing prompt and courteous responses. For more details, please contact us or refer to the catalog.

Application examples / Gate post analysis * Model creation (M-Φ fiber model)

Static and dynamic analysis of important related structures of dams, such as gate pillars and weirs! Structural analysis software 'ISCEF' suitable for civil engineering structures.

We will introduce a case study on the use of the structural analysis software 'ISCEF', which is suitable for civil structures. The gate post is the part that serves as the pillar for the gate and the superstructure. If the gate post itself is damaged, it will become impossible to open and close the gate, leading to an inability to adjust the water level, which in the worst case could result in the collapse of the dam. Therefore, improvements in seismic resistance are required for this important related structure of the dam. Our company undertakes tasks such as creating models of the gate post (M-Φ model, fiber model), capacity-based horizontal resistance method, and dynamic analysis. ISCEF "Slip Stability Analysis"

Supports both the Newmark method and the Watanabe-Baba method! Can calculate safety factors and slip displacement amounts.

The structural analysis software 'ISCEF' suitable for civil engineering structures, which we handle, allows you to set strength constants and arc shapes to determine safety factors and slip displacement amounts. Arc information can be visually created by setting material property values (compatible with both the Cφ method and the Ab method) and calculation conditions (with or without water level) from the interface. Additionally, not only specified arcs but also arbitrary arcs can be set, allowing for the determination of the maximum slip arc. It supports both the Newmark method and the Watanabe-Baba method, and simultaneous calculations are also possible. 【Features】 ■ Ability to set strength constants and arc shapes to determine safety factors and slip displacement amounts (arc shapes can be set as both specified and arbitrary arcs) ■ Compatible with both the Newmark method and the Watanabe-Baba method ■ Simultaneous calculations possible *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

ISCEF "Crack Tracking Function"

Trackable concrete crack propagation! Non-orthogonal fixed models are also available.

Our structural analysis software 'ISCEF' suitable for civil engineering structures allows tracking of concrete crack propagation using a distributed cracking model. In addition to the orthogonal fixed model, it also includes a non-orthogonal fixed model. The non-orthogonal fixed model can track tensile and compressive failure considering the nonlinearity of reinforcement. 【Features】 ■ Various stress-strain softening tables can be set (single linear, two linear, multi-linear) ■ Damping considering the stiffness reduction of crack initiation elements ■ Decay settings for each material property *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
