Integration of implicit and explicit methods. For elucidating a wide range of phenomena such as heat, electricity, magnetic fields, and fluids.

In nonlinear structural analysis, the three key nonlinearities are material, geometry, and boundary conditions. In recent design practices, there is a necessity to consider contact in assembly components using complex material models. Abaqus can accurately model not only classical metal material constitutive laws but also failure models due to rate dependence and polymers such as rubber and resin. Additionally, the innovative formulation of surface-to-surface contact achieves more robust convergence and higher analysis accuracy compared to other structural analysis tools. The general contact feature requires minimal user setup, significantly reducing the time needed to define contacts in complex assemblies seen in automobiles, aircraft, consumer electronics, and portable electronic devices.

Today's ANSYS: Optimizing Pump Energy Consumption through Fluid Simulation (CP Pumpen)

Today's ANSYS: Optimizing Pump Energy Consumption through Fluid Simulation (CP Pumpen)

  • Other・notification

I would like to introduce information about how CAE and CFD are beneficial to society, along with interesting application examples, primarily through articles in the information magazine "ADVANTAGE." By using ANSYS CFX, you can obtain information about discharge heads, power consumption, and efficiency, as well as check the flow field within pumps. Today, I will introduce the efforts of CP Pumpen, a leading supplier of high-quality centrifugal pumps, in utilizing simulation for product improvement. To secure a competitive advantage in an increasingly competitive market, they adopted CAE to improve their products. ↓ To improve the traditional prototype-based methods, they introduced ANSYS CFX and ANSYS BladeModeler. ↓ Through repeated pre-validation, they were able to improve hydraulic characteristics and highlight issues with conventional designs. ↓ This led to significant effects, such as a threefold increase in development efficiency (↑) and up to a 50% improvement in pump efficiency (↑), successfully recovering the initial investment within a year. *For more details, please refer to the link below or feel free to contact us.

Today's ANSYS: ANSYS Fluent Fiber Module

Today's ANSYS: ANSYS Fluent's Fiber Module

  • Other・notification

Today, I would like to take a different perspective and introduce the "Fiber Module," an optional feature of ANSYS Fluent. This module allows for the modeling of melt spinning and dry spinning processes in fiber production. It can simulate various physical phenomena such as the solidification of molten liquid and volatilization by coupling the standard CFD mesh of Fluent with an independent one-dimensional mesh (grid) for the fibers. There are three methods for spinning: melt spinning, dry spinning, and wet spinning. Currently, simulations possible with ANSYS Fluent and the Fiber Module are limited to melt spinning and dry spinning. By considering the interaction between the surrounding fluid calculations and the fiber calculations, it is possible to obtain flow fields and temperature fields of the surrounding fluid that change with the flow of the fibers, as well as local information about the fibers that changes with the surrounding fluid. All necessary settings for the simulation can, of course, be done through the GUI. The high functionality is a characteristic feature of the ANSYS Fluent Fiber Module. *For more details, please refer to the link below or feel free to contact us.*

Today's ANSYS: Development and Design Efficiency of Japan's First Assistive Artificial Heart (Sanmedical Technology Research Institute)

Today's ANSYS: Development and Design Efficiency of Japan's First Assistive Artificial Heart (San Medical Technology Research Institute)

  • Other・notification

This time, we would like to introduce an interview article with Sun Medical Technology Research Institute, Inc. They have developed an implantable assistive artificial heart system called "EVAHEART" over approximately 20 years. ↓ While previous assistive artificial hearts were external devices, this implantable type allows for discharge from the hospital and reintegration into society. It is a highly advanced medical device classified as a life-supporting device, yet it is also used at home, making it an extremely unique medical device. ↓ The development has benefited from ANSYS products. ↓ Until recently, simulations were outsourced to external research institutions, but in developing the new system, they began conducting fluid, electromagnetic, and structural simulations in-house to efficiently advance the design of motors and pumps. ↓ Ultimately, verification in biological systems is essential, but by using simulations to optimize each component in advance, they aim to minimize biological evaluations and pursue efficient development. ↓ They want to use hypothesis formulation and simulation execution to analyze results and understand phenomena as a tool. *For more details, please refer to the link below or feel free to contact us.

[Today's ANSYS] Analyzing oil flow and temperature within the unit using ANSYS Fluent (Toyota Motor Corporation)

[Today's ANSYS] Analyzing oil flow and temperature inside the unit using ANSYS Fluent (Toyota Motor Corporation)

  • Other・notification

I would like to introduce information about how CAE and CFD are beneficial to society, along with interesting application examples, primarily through articles from the information magazine "ADVANTAGE." Here is an interview article featuring Toyota Motor Corporation. Initially, the company had not made much progress in utilizing CFD due to the complexity of phenomena in the drive system. However, starting in the early 2000s, they began benchmarking for cooling simulations and conducted various verifications over several years. ↓ As a result, they decided on Fluent, which has high accuracy and can reproduce complex phenomena, from among many CFD codes. ↓ Previously, evaluations were done through prototypes and in-vehicle experiments, which resulted in significant losses if something went wrong. ↓ Now, thermal evaluations can be conducted before the prototype vehicle is created, significantly shortening the development cycle and reducing the number of prototypes. Furthermore, the simulation results allow for visualization of which parts are effective for cooling, making it much easier to implement countermeasures. ↓ Until now, CAE has often been focused on cost reduction through the reduction of prototypes, but it is now being used for the purpose of "creating better cars." *For more details, please refer to the link below or feel free to contact us.
