Comparison of 560Ah and 280Ah Lithium: Case Study of Lithium-Ion Battery Replacement Service for Forklifts

At the 3PL logistics center, we were using two 1.5-ton counterbalance forklifts (FBT15PN-80B) equipped with 390Ah48V lead-acid batteries, operating 24 hours a day. However, the batteries needed to be replaced approximately every three years, resulting in high costs. To address this, we introduced one unit each of 560Ah48V and 280Ah48V lithium-ion batteries for comparison, using one rapid charger and one onboard charger for charging. As a result, we found that the 560Ah lithium capacity had about a 20% longer operating time. After the lithium exchange, there was a case where the discharge time (usage time) reached a maximum of 16.8 hours for 24-hour operation.

Here is a case study of the lithium-ion battery replacement service for forklifts conducted at our can manufacturing plant. We were using a Toyota 1.8-ton counterbalance forklift, model 7FB18. The lithium-ion battery was 48V 560Ah.
