Air Conditioning Basics: Refrigeration Cycle and p-h Diagram

The advantage of using an economizer for gas-liquid separation after pressure reduction is that it can reduce power consumption!

Air conditioning equipment such as air conditioners and turbo refrigerators generates cold water or air by repeating four processes known as the refrigeration cycle. In this column, we will explain the p-h diagram, which illustrates the state of the refrigerant at each stage on a single line diagram, allowing us to understand the conditions and values of each part and apply this knowledge to the design and operational status of refrigeration machines. Please take a moment to read it. 【Contents】 ■ What can be understood from the p-h diagram ■ p-h diagram for single-stage compression ■ p-h diagram for multi-stage compression *For detailed content of the article, please refer to the related links. *For more information, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Methods for Reducing Running Costs of Air Conditioning Equipment (LCEM)

Efforts to reduce the running costs of air conditioning can be considered an important issue!

Air conditioning accounts for a significant portion of a building's energy consumption. For example, in office buildings, air conditioning represents about 28% of energy consumption (according to the Energy Conservation Center, Japan). In other words, when considering energy costs in building operation and management, such as measures against global warming and reductions in utility expenses, improving the energy efficiency of air conditioning can be effective. This article will introduce points for reducing the running costs of air conditioning. [Contents] ■ The issue of energy efficiency in air conditioning is solved by LCEM ■ Considerations by stage ■ Examples of systems that reduce the running costs of air conditioning ■ Benefits for energy-saving companies * Detailed content of the article can be viewed through related links. * For more information, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

The Fluorocarbon Emission Control Act is set to be revised, with consideration for strengthening penalties.

Considering strengthening regulations from four perspectives! Introducing the background of regulatory strengthening and future outlook, etc.

On January 16, 2019, the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry solidified their policy to strengthen regulations on alternative refrigerants under the Fluorocarbon Emission Control Law. According to survey results compiled by the Ministry of the Environment in December 2018, it was revealed that 63% of alternative refrigerants used in equipment such as air conditioners and refrigerators are disposed of without being recovered at the time of equipment disposal. The Ministry of the Environment has begun considering imposing stricter penalties on businesses, as it sees this as contributing to delays in measures against global warming. [Contents] ■ Survey results from the Ministry of the Environment (December 2018) ■ Consideration of strengthening regulations from four perspectives ■ Background of regulatory strengthening and future plans * For detailed content of the article, please refer to the related links. * For more information, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

[Energy Saving Effect Measurement Case] Chiller for Clean Room Air Conditioning System

Power consumption decreased by 30% within two months after installation! Introducing the energy-saving effects of the refrigeration unit using the water reforming device "The Bio Water."

We would like to introduce a case study on the energy-saving effects of our clean room air conditioning system's refrigeration unit. A water conditioning device, The Bio Water, was installed in the cooling tower (350RT) water tank, and changes in water quality were measured, along with changes in the power consumption of the refrigeration unit's compressor. Additionally, we confirmed changes in the replacement cycle of the filters installed in the cooling water for production equipment. The power consumption of the refrigeration unit's compressor decreased by 30% two months after the installation of The Bio Water. This was due to the removal of scale in the cooling water piping circulating from the cooling tower to the refrigeration unit, resulting in a reduced load on the compressor and confirming the energy-saving effect. [Test Overview] ■ Test Location: Taichung City Precision Injection Molding Factory ■ BW Installation Date: November 14, 2018 - Installation of The Bio Water in the cooling tower ■ Test Period: November 14, 2018 - January 25, 2019 ■ Test Content: Measurement of energy-saving effects of the refrigeration unit in the clean room air conditioning system * The production equipment installed in the clean room includes injection molding machines and deposition devices. * For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

77K GM Refrigeration Unit CH-110

The cold storage material moves back and forth inside the cylinder, causing the refrigerant gas to expand adiabatically and generate cold.

The 77K GM Refrigeration Machine CH-110 is a mechanical refrigeration unit in which the refrigerant storage material moves back and forth inside the cylinder, causing the refrigerant gas to expand adiabatically and generate cold. The method used by Sumitomo Heavy Industries to achieve the back-and-forth motion of the refrigerant storage material employs a crank mechanism to convert the motor's rotational motion into linear motion. Additionally, innovations in the two-stage refrigerant storage seal make this refrigeration unit the world's first that is not restricted by the installation direction of the 4K refrigeration unit. For more details, please contact us or refer to the catalog.

Air Conditioning Basics: Primary Energy Conversion

The COP of an absorption refrigerator is calculated from primary energy! Comparing the efficiency of refrigerators under the same conditions.

When comparing the COP of absorption chillers and turbo chillers, the COP of turbo chillers listed in catalogs is around 6, which is high, but this value is calculated from the power consumption of secondary energy. On the other hand, the COP of absorption chillers is calculated from primary energy, and to compare the efficiency of chillers under the same conditions, a primary energy conversion is performed. This article provides a detailed explanation of primary energy conversion. [Contents] ■ Primary Energy and Secondary Energy ■ Power Generation Loss and Transmission Loss ■ Primary Energy Conversion Values *For detailed content of the article, you can view it through the related links. *For more information, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Renovation or Replacement: Four Questions to Determine Your Equipment Upgrade Strategy

To make suitable choices for the needs of your facilities and buildings! Introduction of helpful air conditioning information.

As buildings age, you may find yourself at a crossroads of whether to replace or renovate the air conditioning system. According to a report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, about half of commercial buildings were constructed before 1980. When equipment deteriorates or approaches the end of its useful life, customers are faced with the decision of whether to "renovate or replace." To make an appropriate choice for your facility or building's needs, let's consider the answers to the following four questions. 【Content】 ■ Retrofit vs. Replace: What is the ROI (Return on Investment)? ■ Where is the equipment installed in the facility? ■ What is the remaining useful life performance of the equipment? ■ What is the connectivity capability of your equipment? *For more details, you can view the related links. *For more information, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
