Confirmed that there are no issues with the water storage function! Here is an introduction to the situation of wooden water tanks during the Great East Japan Earthquake.

In March 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake, which became an unprecedented disaster, occurred. Our company had supplied wooden water tanks to hospitals in the vicinity of the affected area. One of these was the Fukushima Labor Accident Hospital. After the disaster, we visited the site and confirmed that there were no leaks, except for some manholes and electrical components, and that the water storage function was completely intact. Similarly, the underground water tank at the Tohoku Labor Accident Hospital (Sendai) also showed no leaks or damage. At our hospital, due to the absence of damage and water leaks in the wooden water tanks after the disaster, it was possible to use water within the facility for three days after the water supply was cut off. Our company was founded in 1912 (the first year of the Taisho era) under the name Dai Nippon Suido Mokukan Co., Ltd., introducing American technology and machinery to Yokohama. Reduction effects of greenhouse gases (GHG) in wooden water tanks.

By effectively utilizing wood, we can revitalize forests and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases!

Our company compared the GHG emissions of "wooden water tanks" with those of existing water storage tanks. This research was conducted under the guidance of an associate professor specializing in wood research at a certain national university, and the GHG emissions were calculated based on the materials and weights of each tank. The results show that the wooden tanks, which have a high degree of "wood utilization," have lower GHG emissions, followed by stainless steel tanks with high recycling efficiency, and finally FRP tanks with poor recycling efficiency. Overview of Wooden Water Tank Vibration Experiment (May 2011 / Experiment Conducted)

Conducted vibration experiments on a 3t (water volume) wooden tank designed using conventional methods! Introducing an overview of the vibration experiments on the wooden water tank.

In May 2011, a vibration experiment was conducted using a 10-ton shaking table owned by the Kanazawa Institute of Technology's Institute of Regional Disaster Prevention and Environmental Science (IDES) on a 3-ton (water volume) wooden tank designed using conventional methods. For these vibration experiments, the acceleration and displacement of the wooden tank and the shaking table, the strain of the side plates, round steel bands, and anchor bolts, as well as the water pressure acting on the side plates were measured. Throughout the experiment, it was found that the strain in the orthogonal direction of the wood (side plates) and the strain in the steel (round steel bands) were similar, indicating that both materials behaved as a unified system. Additionally, during the one-month experiment, more than 100 different input waves were applied to the wooden tank, but there was no water leakage or damage to the tank at all.
