Case Study of Fluid Analysis for a Two-Axis Screw Compressor

Introduction to a fluid analysis simulation of a two-axis screw compressor using SimericsMP+ and SCORG, as a case study in thermal fluid analysis.

CFD allows for the reduction of product development time and prototyping costs, as well as obtaining detailed data that is difficult to measure through experiments. In this article, we will introduce application examples that can be useful for product development using Simerics' CAE/CFD software. Two-axis screw compressors have applications in refrigeration and air conditioning, including air conditioners and refrigerators. In the design process, a significant amount of cost and time must be spent on prototyping and experiments. With Simerics' CFD, high-performance thermal fluid analysis can be processed quickly through large-scale parallel computing, providing results easily and rapidly. Additionally, the cooling lubricants are analyzed using the VOF method, reproducing conditions close to actual experiments. This is expected to significantly reduce man-hours and costs! There are many more reasons to use Simerics' CFD software. Please check the link below or feel free to contact us!

Simulation of a heat exchanger using SimericsMP.

Introduction to the simulation of a shell-and-tube heat exchanger, an example of thermal fluid analysis.

CFD provides a way to shorten product development periods, reduce prototyping costs, and obtain detailed data that is difficult to measure through experiments. In this article, we will introduce application examples that can be useful for product development using Simerics' CAE/CFD software. Heat exchangers have various applications, including boilers, steam generators, and commonly in air conditioners, refrigerators, and automobile radiators. While it is essential to enhance heat transfer efficiency, there is also a demand for miniaturization, which requires various trials and errors in design. However, designing often requires significant costs and time spent on prototyping and experiments. In CFD simulations, computation time can become lengthy depending on the shape of the shell and the number of tubes, but with Simerics' CFD, high-performance thermal fluid analysis can be processed quickly through large-scale parallel computing, allowing for easy and rapid results. The interior of the shell is also modeled in detail, replicating conditions close to actual experiments. This can lead to significant reductions in labor and costs! There are still many reasons to use Simerics' CFD software. Please check the link below or feel free to contact us!

Today's ANSYS mission is 'without prototyping' (Tokyo Electron)

We would like to introduce an interview article with Mr. Kazuo Kibi from Tokyo Electron Limited!

We would like to introduce information about how CAE and CFD are beneficial to society, as well as interesting application examples, primarily through articles from the information magazine "ADVANTAGE" published by ANSYS, Inc. and ANSYS Japan Co., Ltd. This time, we will present an interview article with Mr. Kazuo Kibi from Tokyo Electron Limited. The company holds the top share in Japan and the third-largest share in the world as a semiconductor manufacturing equipment manufacturer. As a long-time user of ANSYS Fluent, the company utilizes simulation to clarify and predict phenomena occurring within their manufacturing equipment. They use simulation software from upstream to downstream in the design process, but now the management has given them a more challenging mission: "to create prototypes without making them." Creating prototypes requires enormous costs and time. Therefore, if they can avoid making prototypes, there is no doubt that they will gain significant economic and time benefits. *For more details, please download the PDF or contact us.

Introduction to "Manufacturing and Performance Analysis Solutions"

For evaluating product performance and examining manufacturing processes! We will introduce solutions related to manufacturing and performance analysis.

In recent years, due to the influence of weight reduction and efficiency improvement, the design and material technologies of automotive components have become increasingly advanced, making considerations such as "how to enhance product performance during the manufacturing process" increasingly important. However, in actual manufacturing processes, products are produced through multiple processes, yet many CAE analyses focus solely on one process or physical phenomenon. ESI Group proposes the challenge of reproducing and predicting design and manufacturing processes that include multiple processes, aiming to reduce lead times and costs through virtual prototyping. 【Case Studies】 ■ Fatigue durability analysis considering the casting process By faithfully modeling the pressing, welding, and press-fitting processes and transferring the residual stress and strain from each process, we evaluate the impact on the final fatigue strength performance. ■ Impact analysis considering the die-casting process The strength of die-cast products decreases in proportion to the amount of surface oxides entrained during filling. By providing material strength based on the amount of entrainment calculated through die-casting simulation and conducting impact simulations, we achieved a good correlation with actual machine tests. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Fusion360 Experience Course - From Creating Mechanical Parts to Assembly

By modeling parts and creating assemblies, you will be able to experience the design flow using Fusion 360.

Fusion360 is an integrated 3D CAD application that handles CAD, CAM, CAE, and rendering. Among its features, the hybrid modeling capability that supports solid, surface, polygon, and mesh modeling is based on innovative ideas that set it apart from traditional CAD products, earning high praise across various industries. Not only does it offer innovation, but it also includes traditional mechanical 3D CAD functionalities, allowing for advanced mechanical design, including individual part design, product assembly creation, and sheet metal functions, despite its price. In this seminar, participants will experience the design flow using Fusion360 by modeling parts and creating assemblies. It is recommended for those considering the active adoption of 3D CAD, those who have hesitated due to cost, and those looking to reduce the operational costs of existing 3D CAD systems. Date: Saturday, May 26, 2018, from 13:30 to 16:30 *Fusion360 2018 will be used. *One computer (Windows) will be provided per person.
