At the company, even after picking was completed on each floor, containers could not be transported to the consolidation floor, leading to a backlog of waiting containers on each floor. We would like to introduce a case study of the logistics system implemented at Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ion Technology Co., Ltd. The conventional production system relied on manual labor, and automation was difficult in certain processes. To enhance production efficiency, we focused on the parts supply process. We introduced the "Rotary Rack H" with the aim of improving the efficiency of inbound and outbound operations for approximately 15,000 types of parts. After implementation, the storage area for parts was reduced to half compared to the previous flat shelf storage. Here is a case study of the introduction of 16 lightweight medium-duty boltless steel racks. We installed "boltless" racks that can be assembled without using a single bolt. This reduces assembly time to about one-third, and changing the position of the shelves can be done in just about one minute. Additionally, we implemented a tip-over prevention measure using "tension rods" provided by the customer. By tensioning between the rack and the ceiling, we can prevent tipping due to earthquakes or collisions. Furthermore, our company offers various earthquake and tip-over prevention measures, including a "tip-over prevention base" that can be easily installed without welding.
