[Jobtan Introduction Case Study] Gemco Japan Management Co., Ltd.

An example of clarifying business improvement targets in the work style reform of a food manufacturer's quality assurance department.

We would like to introduce a case where "Jobtan" was implemented at Gemco Japan Management Co., Ltd., a consulting company. Before using our product, the measurement of work hours was done manually by the employees on-site through written descriptions. However, we felt it was burdensome to impose additional work on them amidst their already busy regular tasks during the consulting process aimed at business improvement. Therefore, we introduced our product. It allows for accurate data collection with minimal burden on employees, enabling immediate analysis. This aligns well with the company's consulting methods for business reform, and it has been utilized in many projects as part of the "business reality survey phase." [Results] - By understanding the business ratios, composition ratios, and the burdens placed on whom and in what manner, we can clarify the targets and approaches for improvement by combining this with the focus points of the analysis and evaluation. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

Logistics strategy and the structure of improvement organizations.

Explaining what can be achieved through the organization of logistics, strategic, and enterprise systems!

It has been 30 years since I became involved in logistics. From the perspective of my experience in logistics companies and my experience in business consulting, I have closely observed the changes in logistics and supply chains. Over the past 30 years, logistics and supply chains have evolved at an accelerating pace. When I joined a logistics company as a new graduate, the operations were primarily manual (I personally gained practical experience as a charter driver for 4-ton trucks, a delivery driver for parcel collection, and a forklift operator in a warehouse). Instead of each person having a personal computer, there was one computer per department, and operations were carried out almost entirely by hand, with forklifts being the only exception, in a world largely untouched by automation or labor-saving technologies. *You can view the detailed content of the blog through the related links. Regarding the logistics of medical pharmaceuticals.

A detailed explanation of the types and distribution channels of medical pharmaceuticals on the blog!

I believe there are few people who have never used prescription medications before. Since pharmaceuticals often have a direct impact on the human body, high-quality handling and services that meet the temperature, vibration, and light protection standards set by pharmaceutical manufacturers for each drug are required during distribution and logistics. To satisfy these requirements, it seems necessary to operate in accordance with the "Good Distribution Practice (GDP) Guidelines for Pharmaceuticals" issued by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. While the GDP in our country does not have legal binding power, it can be said that handling in accordance with GDP is extremely important to ensure safety and security. *For more details about the blog, please refer to the related links. Reconsidering ECRS: Towards Sustainable Logistics

From now on, it is necessary to utilize ECRS not only for efficiency but also to promote the sustainability of logistics.

In many manufacturing and distribution industries, the efficient operation of logistics is a crucial factor that influences a company's competitiveness. Therefore, many companies are engaged in improvement activities aimed at achieving more efficient logistics. A commonly used framework in these improvement activities is called "ECRS." This is also known as the four principles of improvement, which generalizes and organizes methods for efficiency in various operations, not limited to logistics. ECRS can be considered principles that promote efficiency, and by implementing improvement measures that incorporate these elements, companies are said to enhance productivity and achieve cost reduction and strengthened competitiveness. *For more details on the blog, you can view it through the related links. Necessary considerations for the appointment of a CLO

A blog explaining the necessary measures for shippers to function effectively with CLO!

Finally, the regulations on overtime work in the logistics industry have begun, and the shipping companies, logistics providers, and receiving companies will collaborate to further improve the appropriateness of logistics and enhance productivity. The "Guidelines for Initiatives by Shippers and Logistics Providers for the Appropriateness of Logistics and Productivity Improvement," issued by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in June 2023, particularly require shippers to appoint a person (such as an executive) to oversee and manage logistics operations comprehensively within their organization to implement initiatives for the appropriateness of logistics and productivity improvement. In this article, I would like to clarify the role of the Chief Logistics Officer (CLO) and outline the necessary responses for shippers to ensure the CLO functions effectively. *For more details, please refer to the related links. Series NX Research Institute President Speaks: Part 5 - Impact on Logistics and Work Styles in Japan and Europe

Changes in economic activities due to the deepening of EU principles. An explanation of the impact of the introduction of the euro on logistics, among other things.

The movement of people, goods, capital, and services becoming free within the EU has had a significant impact on the logistics industry. Particularly with the introduction of the euro, it has become possible to set optimal locations considering lead times and delivery costs. Major logistics companies in Europe had previously positioned their own distribution centers in optimal locations in each country, but after the introduction of the euro, they began treating multiple countries as a single market. To adopt a flexible system that meets customer demands, they started selling their own distribution center facilities to logistics real estate operators, often real estate companies within their own group, and then re-leasing them under the same conditions as the customer contracts. As a result, when customers requested the relocation of distribution hubs, they were able to respond relatively easily by moving to another location. *For more details, you can view the related links. The ability to effectively use AI will become a central business competency.

Logistics DX is accelerating! Whether or not you can effectively use AI is the dividing line.

When picking up keywords from popular articles in our recent logistics blog, themes such as "2024 issue," "COVID-19 pandemic," "fire prevention measures," "international transportation," "energy conservation," "health-related accidents," "personnel evaluation," "work style reform," "truck freight rates," and "traffic safety measures" emerge, highlighting various pressing topics. Here, we will consider this from a slightly different perspective. How have those working in the logistics industry gained insights on urgent themes and topics of interest? In other words, what methods have traditionally been used to gather information? The conventional approach involved searching for related information scattered across the internet, such as blog articles and news sites. It was likely a "web search" method where insights were gained by taking the time to read and compare numerous articles found through searches. *For more detailed content from the blog, please refer to the related links. [DX Case Study] Reforming the Work Style of Office Workers

A case where data on work records for about 40 people over two weeks was easily obtained!

We would like to introduce a case study of a company that has implemented digital transformation (DX) in its efforts to reform the working style of office workers using the "Continuous Time Analysis Method." At NX/NP Logistics, a logistics company dealing with home appliances and precision machinery, video recording was used to measure the working hours of office workers. However, after three days of video recording, only one day's worth of work records for two or three employees could be obtained. To address this, smartphones equipped with the app "Jobtan," a tool for measuring working hours, were distributed to approximately 40 staff members. This allowed for the easy collection of two weeks' worth of work record data from all 40 employees. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge: It took time and effort to convert work records into numerical data. ■ Result: The content of overtime work for sales administration, employees' work skills, and previously individualized tasks became clear, enabling concrete business improvements to be undertaken in response to these challenges. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Jobtan Introduction Case] Nakayo Corporation

An example of visualizing the movements of water purification in a cell production line (parts supply operations).

We would like to introduce a case where "Jobtan" has been implemented at Nakayo Co., Ltd., which is involved in the manufacturing of communication equipment. The company has been analyzing the movements of workers to improve the productivity of production cells, but they had not been able to grasp the current situation of indirect operations, specifically the water management tasks. As a result of the implementation, they were able to understand the work content, work time, and movement range of the water management tasks, which were previously not visible from an external perspective. [Results] ■ It became clear that tasks that should not take much time were taking longer, and that certain staff members were experiencing a heavy workload, allowing for the consideration of improvement measures. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

An attempt to evolve into a logistics platform that survives the 2024 problem.

Cooperation required between shippers and logistics operators against the backdrop of the 2024 issue.

The "2024 Problem," which has been widely covered by mass media and has become well-known to the general public, has finally arrived, and as someone involved in logistics, I have been anxiously awaiting this moment. In May, in the context of the 2024 Problem, two logistics laws were amended, mandating efforts to improve logistics efficiency and the clarification of contract terms related to truck transportation for shippers and logistics operators. This legal amendment is expected to promote improvements in business practices that have long hindered logistics efficiency, and as the next step after many companies have already implemented logistics efficiency measures, "cooperation between shippers and logistics operators" is anticipated. Additionally, with the contract terms for truck transportation becoming clear among stakeholders, it is expected that the requirements that were previously addressed by the actual transportation operators in response to the requests of the consignee will be improved through discussions among the general contractor, the shipper, and the consignee. *For more details on the blog, please refer to the related links. Easy! Create complicated manuals with AI!

Create a "basic framework" for the work manuals of the warehousing and manufacturing industries using AI.

A manual (procedure document) for business is essential for standardizing operations and improving efficiency. However, creating a manual can be surprisingly challenging. It involves identifying work processes, refining the text for clarity, and designing a layout that is easy to read. Doing this in the midst of daily tasks can be time-consuming, and it is not uncommon for processes to be added or updated while the manual is still being created. The core reason for the difficulty lies in the fact that identifying work processes is a challenging task, but a significant factor is also the time spent on creating the "basic framework" regarding the format and structure of the manual. If we have a framework in place, it should be relatively easy to create the manual in a fill-in-the-blank style. Therefore, I would like to have AI create the "basic framework for the manual." *For more details about the blog, you can view it through the related links.
