EV battery test - electrode test

Instron provides material testing solutions for electrode tests necessary to evaluate the adhesion strength and lifespan of electrodes.

■180-Degree Peel Test The 180° peel test is a method commonly used to determine the adhesive strength of electrodes to the collector. This test can be performed using a peel fixture that has mechanical advantages, allows for easy alignment, and utilizes low-load grips and load cells. To ensure high productivity and accurately perform 180° peeling for each test, the best approach is to use pneumatic grips and metal substrates. ■90-Degree Peel Test The 90° peel test is another method frequently used to test the adhesive strength of battery electrodes. The 90° peel generally requires a slightly higher load compared to the 180° peel, but it allows for quick setup as the substrate can be omitted. The most common solution from Instron for this test is a standard 90° peel fixture or a pneumatic peel fixture developed for adhesive testing of electrodes. The 90° pneumatic peel fixture has improved reproducibility and throughput, allowing operators to consistently position and adjust the test specimens at 90°. In the upper fixture, pneumatic grips optimize throughput and reproducibility, making it ideal for testing delicate materials.
