The liner pipe is made of PVC, making the handling and storage of samples after collection easy. The degree of hardness and compactness is indicated by an N value of 4 or higher for cohesive soils and 10 or higher for granular soils. "Welding fumes" and "basic manganese oxide" will be added to the specific chemical substances (Category 2 substances).

This is based on the recommendations of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) and the European Commission's Scientific Committee (EC) regarding exposure limits for manganese and its compounds by particle size. "Welding fumes" and "manganese and its compounds" are positioned as distinct chemical substances (Category 2 controlled substances) due to the high likelihood that their toxicity and health effects differ. For the time being, they will not be classified as special controlled substances, and a re-evaluation will occur once findings regarding carcinogenic substances become clear.
