A special overseas pump made of SUS316L was used to transport ammonia water at the steelworks. Due to the high pressure during transport, erosion and corrosion (Note 1) occurred, leading to severe wear, and it lasted only about three months. Issues: 1. Severe wear due to the transport of ammonia water. 2. The casing of the foreign-made special pump rotates, causing significant wear and holes to form in the casing. 3. [Case Study] Ultra-high molecular weight PE lining for hopper adhesion prevention

A case where we proposed construction at a specialized lining factory with extensive experience, using the provided materials.

This is a case study from a powder conveying line. There was a challenge where powder adhered to the inner surface of the hopper, causing bridging. Although the "Z-1 liner," a super high molecular weight polyethylene lining material, had been used traditionally, there were complaints about the finish of the installation. Therefore, we proposed to take the base material and carry out the installation at a specialized lining factory with extensive experience. As a result, we received feedback stating that "the level of finish is remarkably superior to the conventional method." We would like to introduce the design of the substrate suitable for fluororesin lining. This is the basic substrate design when applying lining (thick film). Please also refer to it for coating (thin film). For the "corner sections," it is ideal to finish with a minimum of 4R, and if possible, 10R or more. If the inner radius is small, increasing the film thickness will make it more susceptible to the thermal contraction of the fluororesin. At the "welded sections," it is necessary to weld all joint areas (both inside and outside). Additionally, if attaching pipes or similar, all joint areas on the coating surface must also be welded. Unevenness in welding is not an issue as long as the weld is smooth. Please note that pinholes in the weld are not acceptable.
