Air Conditioning Basics: What is Surging?

Introduction to the compression methods of turbo refrigerators and the causes of surging!

Surging is a phenomenon in which the discharge gas pressure of a centrifugal compressor is overcome by the pressure on the discharge side, resulting in an inability to discharge gas or the occurrence of gas backflow. When surging occurs in a centrifugal compressor, vibrations become intense, and operation becomes unstable. This indicates that the pressure head of the compressor is insufficient. This article provides a detailed explanation of the causes of surging in turbo chillers and the limits of surging, so please take a moment to read it. Methods for Reducing Running Costs of Air Conditioning Equipment (LCEM)

Efforts to reduce the running costs of air conditioning can be considered an important issue!

Air conditioning accounts for a significant portion of a building's energy consumption. For example, in office buildings, air conditioning represents about 28% of energy consumption (according to the Energy Conservation Center, Japan). In other words, when considering energy costs in building operation and management, such as measures against global warming and reductions in utility expenses, improving the energy efficiency of air conditioning can be effective. This article will introduce points for reducing the running costs of air conditioning. [Contents] ■ The issue of energy efficiency in air conditioning is solved by LCEM ■ Considerations by stage ■ Examples of systems that reduce the running costs of air conditioning ■ Benefits for energy-saving companies * Detailed content of the article can be viewed through related links. * For more information, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study on Turbo Refrigeration System] Snow Brand Milk Products Co., Ltd.

Rapid cooling after heat sterilization! Introducing a case study of a non-fluorocarbon refrigerant turbo freezer.

We would like to introduce a case study of the implementation of the "R-514A adopted ultra-low GWP turbo refrigeration unit" at Snow Brand Megmilk Co., Ltd. The refrigeration units currently in use at the company were using old refrigerants such as CFCs, HCFCs, and HFCs. As part of their efforts to reduce environmental impact, a non-fluorocarbon refrigeration unit using R-514A was considered. The equipment was introduced in a ratio of one turbo refrigeration unit to five screw refrigeration units, adopting optimal control according to the load. [Case Overview] ■ Challenges - Transition all refrigerants to those with minimal environmental impact as much as possible. ■ Results - Achieved the goal of non-fluorocarbonization of the turbo refrigeration unit in a system that utilizes both turbo and screw refrigeration units. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

The Fluorocarbon Emission Control Act is set to be revised, with consideration for strengthening penalties.

Considering strengthening regulations from four perspectives! Introducing the background of regulatory strengthening and future outlook, etc.

On January 16, 2019, the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry solidified their policy to strengthen regulations on alternative refrigerants under the Fluorocarbon Emission Control Law. According to survey results compiled by the Ministry of the Environment in December 2018, it was revealed that 63% of alternative refrigerants used in equipment such as air conditioners and refrigerators are disposed of without being recovered at the time of equipment disposal. The Ministry of the Environment has begun considering imposing stricter penalties on businesses, as it sees this as contributing to delays in measures against global warming. [Contents] ■ Survey results from the Ministry of the Environment (December 2018) ■ Consideration of strengthening regulations from four perspectives ■ Background of regulatory strengthening and future plans * For detailed content of the article, please refer to the related links. * For more information, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Replacing the cooling unit of refrigerated and frozen containers with a quiet type.

Reduction of electricity consumption and noise! Introducing examples where troubleshooting and maintenance have become easier.

We would like to introduce a case where the cooling system of a refrigerated and frozen container was replaced with a quiet model. The refrigeration equipment for marine refrigerated and frozen containers consumes relatively high amounts of electricity and is quite loud, which could lead to noise complaints from the surrounding area, especially at night when installed in urban settings. Therefore, by replacing the refrigeration equipment with a general-purpose unit that has the same structure as an air conditioner, it became easier to handle repairs and maintenance, and the noise level decreased, eliminating disturbances to the surrounding area. [Case Overview] ■ Background Leading to Implementation - The refrigeration equipment for marine refrigerated and frozen containers consumes relatively high amounts of electricity. - The noise is quite loud, which could lead to noise complaints from the surrounding area, especially at night. - Being made in China, it is difficult to repair domestically when used on land. ■ Solution - Replaced the refrigeration equipment with a general-purpose unit that has the same structure as an air conditioner. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Energy Saving Effect Measurement Case] Chiller for Clean Room Air Conditioning System

Power consumption decreased by 30% within two months after installation! Introducing the energy-saving effects of the refrigeration unit using the water reforming device "The Bio Water."

We would like to introduce a case study on the energy-saving effects of our clean room air conditioning system's refrigeration unit. A water conditioning device, The Bio Water, was installed in the cooling tower (350RT) water tank, and changes in water quality were measured, along with changes in the power consumption of the refrigeration unit's compressor. Additionally, we confirmed changes in the replacement cycle of the filters installed in the cooling water for production equipment. The power consumption of the refrigeration unit's compressor decreased by 30% two months after the installation of The Bio Water. This was due to the removal of scale in the cooling water piping circulating from the cooling tower to the refrigeration unit, resulting in a reduced load on the compressor and confirming the energy-saving effect. [Test Overview] ■ Test Location: Taichung City Precision Injection Molding Factory ■ BW Installation Date: November 14, 2018 - Installation of The Bio Water in the cooling tower ■ Test Period: November 14, 2018 - January 25, 2019 ■ Test Content: Measurement of energy-saving effects of the refrigeration unit in the clean room air conditioning system * The production equipment installed in the clean room includes injection molding machines and deposition devices. * For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

77K GM Refrigeration Unit CH-110

The cold storage material moves back and forth inside the cylinder, causing the refrigerant gas to expand adiabatically and generate cold.

The 77K GM Refrigeration Machine CH-110 is a mechanical refrigeration unit in which the refrigerant storage material moves back and forth inside the cylinder, causing the refrigerant gas to expand adiabatically and generate cold. The method used by Sumitomo Heavy Industries to achieve the back-and-forth motion of the refrigerant storage material employs a crank mechanism to convert the motor's rotational motion into linear motion. Additionally, innovations in the two-stage refrigerant storage seal make this refrigeration unit the world's first that is not restricted by the installation direction of the 4K refrigeration unit.
