Fluid package material analysis Microthermometry (melting point of ice (salt concentration))
The melting point of ice is measured using fluid package material analysis, from which the salt concentration of hot water is estimated.
Using liquid nitrogen to cool the sample in the heating-cooling stage, the liquid phase of the two-phase fluid inclusion is converted to a solid phase, and the temperature at which the solid phase returns to the liquid phase is measured as the melting point of ice. From this melting point, the salt concentration of the hot water is estimated, allowing not only for an understanding of the properties of the hot water but also for the estimation of its origin.
