Ground reinforcement work | Improving structural safety with the Tiger Pile method to prevent sinking.
Ground reinforcement work
The necessity of ground reinforcement work to prevent uneven subsidence and structural damage. High support capacity and excellent seismic performance are achieved through a composite structure of stepped steel pipes and columns.
Ensuring the safety of the foundation ground in architectural planning is the most important issue for maintaining the structural strength and value of buildings. If appropriate ground reinforcement is not carried out on weak ground that lacks sufficient bearing capacity, uneven settlement of the building may occur, leading to significant damage such as cracks in the exterior walls, poor fitting of doors, and distortion of the structure. The Tiger Pile Method is a high-strength hybrid reinforcement technique that combines hot-formed stepped steel pipes as a core material with soil-cement columns in a composite arrangement. The rich surface friction of the columns and the excellent strength and seismic resistance of the steel pipes work together to provide exceptional shear resistance against high ground pressure and horizontal stress during earthquakes, which conventional column improvements find difficult to address. This method fundamentally eliminates the risk of building settlement and maintains high structural strength over the long term. GeoTech Co., Ltd. provides reliable ground reinforcement work through strict quality control and high-precision construction management systems, delivering a solid foundation structure environment that ensures safety and peace of mind for clients and designers.

basic information
This is a technical specification that has obtained the GBR-C performance certification (No. 06-12 Rev. 4) from the Japan Architectural Comprehensive Testing Institute, a general incorporated foundation. It applies to buildings with three stories or fewer, a eaves height of 10 meters or less, and a total floor area of 8,000 m² or less, as well as retaining walls and similar structures with a height of 5 meters or less, and it accommodates a design ground pressure of 300 kN/m² or less. The soil cement diameters are available in three types: φ400, φ500, and φ600 mm, and the core material uses stepped steel pipes (φ76.3 mm, φ114.3 mm) with enhanced adhesion. The length of the steel pipes can be freely set within the range of 0.5 to 8.0 meters.

Applications/Examples of results
It is ideal for ground reinforcement of single-family homes, three-story commercial and residential buildings with high ground pressure, small-scale business buildings, and retaining walls or structures under 5 meters in height. It is widely used in foundation design for structures that face harsh loading conditions where conventional soil-cement improvement may lack strength, as well as for structures where pull-out forces and bending stresses are a concern during earthquakes. It is adopted as a highly effective and reliable reinforcement method in design practices aimed at preventing differential settlement accidents and maintaining the structural strength and seismic resistance of buildings over a long period.
