Installation of security cameras inside the factory entrance windows - A case study that solved security issues without the need for construction | Mihalmo

I want to install security cameras at the entrance and inside the factory. However, many factory managers face challenges such as "there's no space to set up poles for the cameras" and "the construction costs are too high to get the budget approved." At AGC Glass Products Co., Ltd.'s Kurume Factory, we have introduced the "Mihalmo" camera, which can be installed on the inside of windows to capture images from the outside, achieving enhanced security with zero construction and in a short period. ◆Common Challenges in Installing Security Cameras in Factories When considering the installation of security cameras in factories, managers often encounter the following difficulties: 1. The entrances and exits of factories have a lot of vehicle traffic and loading/unloading activities, making it difficult to secure space for pole-mounted cameras. Installing on walls also requires anchor work into concrete structures, leading to extensive construction that cannot be avoided. 2. Outdoor security cameras require not only waterproof and weather-resistant housing costs but also power supply, wiring work, and pole foundation construction. The installation costs can reach several hundred thousand yen per unit, making it challenging to get budget approval. 3. In cases where cameras are only needed for a limited period during factory construction or inventory periods, or if there is a desire to change the installation location later, fixed installation cameras that require construction make flexible responses difficult.

basic information

◆The option of a window-mounted camera called "Mihalmo" Mihalmo is a security camera that can be attached to the inner sash of a window using magnets. As long as power can be secured, no construction is required. If there is a window facing the entrance and exit of a factory, it can be used directly as a security camera. Mihalmo can be installed on the inside of the window while clearly capturing the outdoors. Thanks to AGC's unique technology, reflections that typically occur through regular glass are significantly reduced. It captures the movements of people and vehicles entering and exiting the factory entrance clearly. Additionally, since it is installed indoors, it is not affected by external environmental factors such as rain and wind. Compared to outdoor cameras, it requires less frequent maintenance and helps keep long-term operational costs down.

Applications/Examples of results

◆Case Study of Introduction at AGC Glass Products Kurume Factory Due to the structure allowing direct access from the west door of the second-floor office, there were no cameras to manage visitor entry and exit, creating blind spots. We also considered using outdoor cameras, but the estimates for multiple units amounted to several million yen when combining equipment costs and construction fees, presenting challenges in both cost and labor. Therefore, in addition to being an AGC Group product, we decided to introduce Mihalmo due to its features of "being directly attachable to windows (compatible with sliding windows)" and "having a simple design that does not stand out." ◆Three Reasons for Choosing Indoor Installation 1. Clear images even through window glass Thanks to AGC's unique technology, clear images are captured with reduced reflections, reliably recording the movements of people and vehicles. 2. No construction required and flexible installation with magnetic attachment No construction is needed as existing windows are utilized. The magnetic fixation allows for easy detachment and relocation. 3. Indoor installation minimizes external environmental impact Less affected by rain, wind, and dust, leading to reduced maintenance burden and management costs.
