Site Investigation | Deep Soil Bearing Capacity Assessment and Settlement Risk Mitigation at DC Construction Site
Boring survey
Precise evaluation of deep ground bearing capacity and consolidation analysis of cohesive soil layers at the data center construction site to proactively avoid settlement risks due to ultra-high loads.
In construction projects for advanced facilities such as data centers and large-scale logistics facilities, accurately understanding the bearing capacity of deep ground and preventing long-term settlement are the most critical issues. GeoTech's specialized ground investigation services precisely measure the layer thickness and N-value distribution of the supporting layers located at great depths through deep boring surveys and standard penetration tests. Furthermore, we conduct indoor staged loading consolidation tests using undisturbed samples from alluvial clay layers to quantitatively clarify the potential long-term consolidation settlement and the timing of settlement convergence by identifying the consolidation yield stress, compression index, and overconsolidation ratio. Additionally, we calculate the ground deformation coefficient through in-situ horizontal loading tests and perform multi-domain stratigraphic analysis using our proprietary database "GEODAS." We provide reliable ground bearing capacity evaluations and settlement risk mitigation strategies based on abundant measured data and advanced technical foundations, strongly supporting the smooth passage of building confirmation reviews and the safe, long-term continuous operation of data centers.

basic information
This survey consists of deep drilling using a deep drilling machine and standard penetration tests (N-value measurement) in accordance with JIS standards. For cohesive soil layers, undisturbed sample collection is conducted using a triple tube sampler, and the consolidation yield stress, compression index, and consolidation coefficient are calculated through JIS A 1217 staged loading consolidation tests. Additionally, the lateral deformation coefficient of the ground is measured through in-situ lateral loading tests (LLT). The acquired data is cross-checked with the company's ground information system GEODAS and compiled into an analysis report as highly reliable ground parameters.

Applications/Examples of results
It is optimal for the foundation structural design and long-term allowable bearing capacity verification in new construction and expansion plans for data centers and ultra-high-load server buildings. It can be used for quantitative assessment of micro-settlement and differential settlement risks in facilities where precision equipment and high-density racks are installed, as well as for selecting and determining pile foundations and shallow foundations. Additionally, it can be widely utilized for presenting reliable load-bearing evidence in building confirmation applications and structural conformity assessments, as well as for planning ground risk prevention measures with a view to the lifecycle of large industrial facilities.
