Development of "AI for U" to detect construction schedule delay risks in underground works from 3D CAD models during the design phase.
In the plant design for construction, we have jointly developed an AI system with Toyo Engineering Corporation and HEROZ that detects potential schedule delay risks from the 3D CAD model at the design stage and provides insights in a push-based manner. There was a challenge regarding the decrease in productivity of subsequent work due to delays in the construction schedule for underground work. After implementation, it is possible to detect hazards that may occur during construction at the time of feasibility studies and incorporate them into the design in advance to prevent construction delays. 【Case Overview】 ■Challenges - The criteria for feasibility studies conducted at the design stage vary based on the engineers' experiential knowledge, leading to oversights. - There is a dependency on the skills and experience of specific individuals, and the know-how is not easily transferred as it is not codified. ■Solutions - The AI quantitatively expresses the basis for the occurrence of hazards, moving away from subjective and localized judgments during feasibility studies. - In the future, we will continue to codify tacit knowledge based on project results and further develop the AI. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
