The impact of the spread of the novel coronavirus on the movement of international cargo to and from Japan.
A look back at the three years of the COVID-19 pandemic and the trends in recovery to pre-COVID levels!
Three years have passed since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) began in 2020. In the fourth year, 2023, starting from May 8, the classification of COVID-19 under the Infectious Diseases Control Law will transition to "Category 5," the same as seasonal influenza, and there are expectations for an acceleration and full-scale recovery to the "pre-COVID" state. In this post, we will analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the movement of international air cargo and external trade containers (shipping) originating from and destined for Japan during the three years of the pandemic, as well as the recovery trends compared to pre-COVID levels, using two indicators: the year-on-year growth rate and the growth rate compared to pre-COVID (2019) levels, organized and analyzed in a time series. *For more detailed content of the blog, please refer to the related links.
