The heartwood contains a high amount of oil (essential oil components), which not only makes the wood resistant to decay but also provides strong protection against various pests (such as cockroaches, termites, and mites), enhancing the wood's durability. With wide annual rings, it is lightweight and soft, making it less likely to splinter and cause skin irritation. When finished with a smooth surface treatment, it greatly improves the tactile feel.
